so, IS everyone elses' copy 43:55? i think i read from some others about this issue, and i have it, too. ah well. is the recording supposed to start right off with the "terri, terri (carrie, carrie?) who you gonna marry"song?
it almost sounds like my download starts smack in the middle of a song... probably not, though.
i like what i have heard a lot, but it is maddening. i listened to it while my son & i ate breakfast, and i found myself often getting into a song, and then it just switches to another one, and then another.... maybe it is just because i wasn't able to pay full attention, but i found it interesting, very often thrilling, but almost as often disappointing because i didn't get a full song.
hopefully, this is a teaser, and we will get a "proper" album soon, but something causes me to doubt it. i can see paul REALLY liking this method of releasing music.
also, it does suck when our european friends get hosed, but just for balance i would like to mention that whenever paul WELLER releases an album i have to wait & wait & wait for it.

if there were no mats, no 14 songs, no singles soundtrack, and i heard eventually, yes, i would have definitely dug it all by itself. hearing it in context just makes it better. and worse.

How about Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen? I know he's a fan and he would definitely have the chops to play the Bob songs. And, he's smart enough to know it's about the Mats. hell, how about paul, tommy, rick nielsen, and bun e. carlos? the cheap replacements?

i bring up jack white, because what he did in producing and contributing to Loretta Lynn's last release should be regarded as a sin against music. wow. i fuckin' love van lear rose. still, jack white would not be a good choice by any stretch of the imagination for a reformed version of the rep-ts. i think bowe or tommy keene.

this is a really good interview. i found it very hopeful. not for a 'mats reunion, but for paul's future. i love the fact that he is ready to yell again.
as someone else observed, he definitely articulated some bad feelings between him & slim.

i have skipped tracks with ALL of my favorites at one time or another. sometimes i am simply not in the mood to hear "androgynous" or "angels walk" (even though i lovelovelove both tracks).
that said, i do find myself fighting back guilt sometimes when i skip tracks. then i kick myself, and tell myself to knock it off.

I really prefer the demo to the album version. I've been listening to it like mad the past week. It has some certain feeling that I can't put a word to that the album version lacks... the words upbeat, youthful and poppy come to mind but none of those are exactly what I mean. Edit: I think the word I'm looking for is fun (fun fun). I didn't mean to say that the album version isn't fun, just that the demo has a certain magical feeling of it for me. i think it had magical feeling for mr. jesperson, too, all those years ago.
