taken in context with the rest of the notes, my favorite is for wad(fan):
"written for bonnie raitt, but at this rate a hit song would embarrass me..."
ha! also, i love typing "wad(fan)".

dyslexic heart fer instance.....as soon as that puppy fires up with the nana's, i love it in a way that i didn't ten years ago. and i love that it's the opening song.... unprompted, my 3 year old son started singing along to the na-nana-na, nanana-nana part. it was priceless.

the song is anti mysogynistic, but instead it is a chivalry song; which some people might find a little condescending.
big difference between mysogyny & chivalry.

The way I'm reading it is that he isn't calling the woman a bitch but the guy who she is with ("he") is calling her a bitch. I’m out and shouting next time he starts calling, “C’mon c’mon c’mon little bitch” Paul calls her "little child" and chastises her to keep her pride. Granted, he isn't above a little mysogyny at times so I could be wrong. ah, that could be it. i'd have to sit down with the song, and get all the lyrics out to form a full opinion on them, but my first impression is that it sounds like a song a brother would write about a bad situation a sister is in her significant other.

oh and could a song called c'mon little bitch be any less mysogynistic? finally. i have been meaning to post this very thought. the only thing i wonder about is the "bitch" him/herself. is the "bitch" the dude? or is it a woman? drop the word "bitch" and the song is undeniably a feminist manifesto. the word "bitch" certainly makes it interesting, though. "a woman's place ain't in the house. that joker hasn't learned it yet. slap the taste right out of his mouth... c'mon c'mon c'mon little bitch." doesn't he also call the man a "fascist", too? also something about biting his hand next time he beckons... almost fugazi-ish lyrically. then the word "bitch". it's weird.

this is an out-there suggestion, but i have, since hearing about the tracklist, thought maybe the inclusion of "man without ties" is a nod to us.
i mean, it wasn't a hit. it is rarely played. he tossed it off while waiting for a pizza to bake.... also, if we are to believe the rumors, the title "besterberg" comes from us, and i have to think the inclusion of "gun shy" on the 2nd leg (or third, or whatever it was) was due to all the rambling on done here about how great the song is....

Back in '93, I read a review that claimed WCF was obviously about Cobain (Spin, I think). The lyric "Whose suicide you're on" struck me as eerily prescient after KC offed himself. well, i'm glad spin knows so definitively who the song is about. i'm also glad to know they don't know what they are talking about.

areg, i was responding to the bestberg notes in which paul said people THOUGHT the song was about another rock star. cobain is the most obvious one you would think about. so, i knew paul was referring to cobain, but that was a mistake people were making. from day one, i assumed it was about himself. paul has mentioned people thought he wrote it about tommy, but again, i think he wrote it about himself.

I remember some interview where Paul was directly asked if "Fad" was about Cobain. His answer was: "No, I never respected him enough to write a song about him." i always assumed he wrote the song about himself.

who was that? who said that? someone DARED call angels walk subpar?
c'mon c'mon c'mon wouldn't fit AT ALL on an album like "eventually". it's a great outtake, but it wouldn't fit the album. maybe it would fit the feel of 14 songs a little more.... all that i had would DEFINITELY work on "eventually", though. and it should've.
glad i get to hear them both on "besterberg".
