Simple question. Pick your favourite of Paul's 'scribbles on the songs'.
My current favourite must be:
Stain Yer Blood
Thought this sucker was a hit. Very much "the hell with AIDS, let's get naked." I don't think anyone got it. I mean the song.

I like this line in the Lookin' Out Forever notes:
Just like " Love Untold" and "World Class Fad", the cat riles me.

I didn't either. It gets him going? Or is it some reference to Josh Freese?
And what about the Love Untold and Born for Me "still hurt -- I'm told"?

I still like the praying in the hotel closet from 'A Star is Bored'--but I'm a girl.
And the 'Please find some pictures of me that don't suck'.'

Re: "the cat riles me" - I think he means Josh Freese, too. Having said "different well-written words" for Lookin' Out Forever went out the window once JF walked in and got behind the kit. Like "the cat riles me" to stop thinking and just "one-take it", as PW says in the CFMT dvd.

And what about the Love Untold and Born for Me "still hurt -- I'm told"? They wer written about/for the same person and still hurt her to listen to.

The commentary on "It's A Wonderful Lie" gave the song a new level for me. I always felt it had the "end of a hard day of nothing much at all" feel of "Here Comes A Regular" and now I know why.
Ditto for "A Star Is Bored".

taken in context with the rest of the notes, my favorite is for wad(fan):
"written for bonnie raitt, but at this rate a hit song would embarrass me..."
ha! also, i love typing "wad(fan)".
