I hear the last line "maybe it's better you wrote me a letter, then you could lie all you want without having to look me in the eye".
Love it.

That's a sad story dude, threw out the baby with the bathwater. You could get yourself one on ebay for less than 10 bucks (CFMT that is).

I live in Chicago...As for Hotels... I don't know of any in the direct vicinity of the Riviera, but I would suggest the Days Inn in Lincoln Park on Diversey Ave.. It is a good neighborhood to stay in and a 10 minute cab ride to the Riv. It used to be known as the Rock-n-roll hotel because it catered to the many bands that would come through town. Since I saw CFMT ....I have wondered if it may be the hotel of the infamous Paul/Kurt Cobain elevator ride. They played Chicago the same night back in the mid 90's.. Paul at the Riv and Nirvana across the street at the Aragon Ballroom. Olson/Louris last weekend for instance. Me too

By the way, for what it's worth, a program called "Total Recorder" from Highcriteria.com can record web streams. It works great and costs about 12 bucks.

And who is savvy enough to post this performance for those of us too absent minded to tape it? I got it captured. I'll attempt to get Kathy a copy to post.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way for a luddite with limited computer capabilities to hear MP3s? Can I copy it onto a CD and play it on a DVD player or something? Thanks. Most DVD players can play MP3 files copied onto a CDR, like my Panasonic player for example. Many or most newer portable CD players can as well - look for "MP3" on the label.

Paul was wearing what looked like postal issue trousers with the satin stripes down the legs, vest, bowtie, and cowboy hat. He shed the hat first, and stepped on it. Later shed the vest too.
Looking Up in Heaven sounded great as pure country.
He said "What a Day" was written for Bonnie Raitt, "she didn't like it".

It was a fabulous show. The first time I've seen Paul live. He and the band were very tight, rarely pausing more than seconds between songs. Near the end of the show Paul played his harp also singing into the distorted harp mic, a fabulous blues number he said he only did because his brother was there. His sister was also there a few rows in front of me.
My question: did the Replacements ever sound this good?

I like this song very much. Here's my take on what the title phrase means. "rolling up our sleaves" - getting down to the business of starting a family, "Tears" -whether we're ready or well suited to it or not.
God that's painful and honest.

I love the whimsical spoken "Were they" wrong "Yes".
For something similar check out Harry Nillson's "So Long Dad" on Nillson sings Newman (a song that would be a great cover for Paul to do!).
