That lineup is 100x better than Coachella.

The Replacements are already creeping down the tiers of festival billing.

Not to kick a gift horse in the mouth but I wonder why Darren always seems to go out of his way to emphasize and be quoted "these are the only shows booked" and downplay things while shows continue to be added...

I am guessing Darren is just managing the obvious hysterics that come from the likes of us. There is also the possibility the shaky fest was not a done deal yet.

Glad to see more shows being added! This is making me think Bonnaroo may be possible after all... I'd sell my Coachella ticket in a heartbeat if that's the case & hightail it to TN instead.

So is it pretty much expected that those of us in Minnesota will have to wait until "Rock the Garden"?

all this is well and good for those who missed the riot fest shows the first time around.
there are far too many unanswered questions still. have the 'mats become a "festival band." if so, that's fine. but to tour without supporting new material is somewhat cheezy. i don't begrudge them cashing in, but what's the point of "touring" if it means shuffling a playlist and putting "I.O.U." third as opposed to being the encore, and closing with "Valentine's Day," eh?
it's time to sh#t or get off the pot and deliver something new. otherwise, i see no reason to spend good money to see them perform in some california wasteland or travel to atlanta to sit second or third on some bill that leaves me wanting more than a 40-minute show because the "main act" is itching to get on.
have at it, all those folks who were unable to get to the first three last year. i'd most certainly go. but i've seen the 'mats. i've seen isbell. i have no real need to see alabama shakes or the gaslight anthem. and even if i did, i'd prefer to see them in a club as opposed to the mucky potential of a field.
i see that this has become the lollapalozza trend, but it don't mean i've got to buy in. i have no regrets on that front. i was there. i saw them and cheered. i need a little more at this point, like seeing the drive-by truckers tour their next actual album, due to be released in march.

Oh, Wiser's, our sweet but cranky curmudgeon. They did deliver "something new". It was called Songs For Slim, and yes it was only a four song contribution, but still its new product. I also like to think that some of the dough they are getting for these shows is going to Slim cause they're just those kind of guys. Playing to benefit a friend trumps playing to support new product anytime. I'm more angry that Edward Sharpe is billed ahead of our band. I mean, WTF? Am I right people?? Also, who the fuck is Alabama Shakes anyway? Oh, wait, Jenny Lewis is on the bill. I loves me some Jenny Lewis. I want to do to her what Seattle did to Denver...
Now just waiting for our boys to play Pitchfork in Chicago and I'm in 100%.

X has been touring for years with no new material to promote, and it hasn't made for any less of a kick-ass live show.

Personally, new material isn't an issue for me as a determining factor. I'll go futher and say the only way it might be an issue is if I don't like a band's new stuff as much as their old stuff, and the new stuff I don't like as much displaces the old stuff in the set list. For me, if I got see Bruce, I want to see a show that consists only of Bruce material recorded prior to 2000. That's why I do't go see Bruce anymore.
I understand that makes me a terrible fan to some people. And as an aside, for you young ones out there, one of the only benefits to being old is truly not giving a fuck what other people think. And in this regard I don't. If Wilco never wrote another new song, I would still see them tour for the next 20 years.
If I am going to see the Mats play for (in a dream scenario not a festival scenario) 90-120 minutes, I want to see the mats songs I love and then throw some of Paul and Tommy's solo sutff ina, a couple of covers and boom, we're outta there. If there's a great new song or three I really like, super, add them in. otherwise, no need for them.

So how does this work you ask? Well I am offering my talents to drive the party bus. My business is Party 2 Rock Inc. ("#1 Fun for folks on the run"). I am a NLC (no liability corporation) and do not have proper bus driving certification. To make this work I will need 20 people each with 200 bucks to meet me in Toledo. Your $$$ you get transportation to and from plus snack (juice box and cookie or granola bar-your choice). No fighting, cursing or sex on the bus, please. PM me to sign up. Hurry, seats are gonna go fast!

I may not have made it clear-it's drink box and choice of snack to the concert and back from the concert! For a total of two juice boxes (flavor to be determined) and two snacks.
