Still on the fence for this show...and hell, it'll give me a chance to hang with some other fans and actually feel like I'm a part of something for once in my life. 3,220 posts here? That means you're part of something! (and I don't mean that in the "you’re likeable enough, Hillary " way) If you get off the fence and get your Shaky Knees tickets, let me know and we can meet up for a beer. On another note, judging from the satellite views of this Atlantic Station place the festival grounds are all asphalt. Barely a speck of green. One of the squares on the official map is literally a parking lot as its day job. I guess that means no mud pits or dust bowl, but laying out a blanket for a late afternoon siesta might be out of the question.

3,220 posts here? That means you're part of something! (and I don't mean that in the "you’re likeable enough, Hillary " way) hey Veets, thanks for the nice words. True, but it's a social connection only thru the distance and lens of the internet, but I get your point! (Funny Obama quote, btw; should I see your Obama quote and raise you a Sally Fields' infamous, "you like me, you guys really like me!" quote? ) ha, didn't mean for it to sound too dramatic. It's just that I never saw the Mats during their ascent (never had transportation or something always got in the way of me seeing them). Never saw 'em. None of my peer group was into them---in college, the dorm was full of your typical mainstream rock fans, which was okay, but they just weren't into any of the post punk stuff, any of the alternative music coming out. And nobody I met even heard of them or were into them. So the feelings of isolation from the rest of the fan base was pretty acute back then. I'm guessing it must be the same way the other fans from overseas feel who are into this American band but none of their peers give a shit. Lost without a tribe, but you know that tribe you belong to is out there. I did get to see Paul several times and on one of the Folker tour was I able to meet some other fans from the board here, but I didn't hang with them or find out where the meet ups were for some reason. much appreciated; if I can get down Atlanta way, I'll return the favor and hell, pay it forward and buy a round for other Mats fans. As long as the weather ain't too hot by then! Otherwise, that asphalt will really retain a lot of heat.

Dammit, now I'm thinking about this one since I sold my Coachella ticket. I have Southwest credits that are expiring at the end of May that I need to use... right now it's looking like $300 (after credits) from LAX-ATL direct. In Saturday afternoon... out Sunday afternoon. Any late nite/all nite places to go to in ATL? Wondering if I can manage this without a hotel... hmmm...

Anyone notice that most of the Replacements info on the Shaky Knees site is messed up? In the schedule, all the other bands have nice pictures or logos, but the Replacements have this "plac": It's the same on the Shaky Knees mobile app. Then you click on it and it says "No information available" - no bio, no writeup, no nothing. So is the festival dissing them? Or are the Mats doing this intentionally, to be hipster indifferent? Or is someone asleep at the wheel? Maybe I don't care the reason, but it's pretty sad to see a band you love being represented this way.

Anybody know when the Mats will likely take the stage on Saturday night in Atlanta?

Soundcheck included a slow bloozy number, I will dare, favorite thing, nowhere is, kiss me, unknown mid tempo groover, merry go round, wake up
Sounds effing great from a half mile away through my open window

For those that are at the show tonight, if you see a short college age girl with short, all-blue hair, go ask her if she knows timtoast (me). Then tell her her dad said to "be safe". That's my daughter and she's tired of me telling her that.

Whoops, posted this in the wrong thread earlier.
interesting tidbit from Facebook - John McCauley of Deer Tick posted this last night:
Darren Hill brought Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson and Billy Joe Armstrong to my Deer Tick show tonight. We tortured them all for a good 90 minutes or so. What a great night! Off to bed now, if I'm lucky.
Wonder if he is just hanging out if he will be playing too...guess we'll know soon!

I saw a photo on Instagram of what appears to be the band sound checking with Billie Joe on stage.
