I can't vouch for the authenticity of the study, just thought it was interesting. I loved REM up until "Document"....I have remember watching "Orange Crush" during it's world premiere and thinking to myself "what happened?"
I didn't get into the 'Mats until 1989 but have listened to them extensively since then.

stoneslidecorrective.com/?p=314Well duh! Research shows wide gap in incomes and happiness of fans of the band The Replacements compared to fans of the band R.E.M. "Replacements fans exhibit far greater levels of happiness, shaped by what the authors called “their ability to see everything that is bad, and good, be aware of all that, and realize that life is what obtains, not what should obtain. This realism of the Replacements fan appears to free him or her from pathological levels of depression, and also fosters a joyful, wry humor."

Watched on Netflix as well. Really well done.....so want to go to Nashville now. Hagbard, any details on the tour you took?
I keep thinking how this band wrote such great songs but they fell upon deaf ears. It's sad to be honest.

Was toying with the idea of flying out from NJ but was doing some research on the festival and it seems like a clusterphuck. Ticket prices to me seem high......hotels are not really in area and are somewhat expensive for what appears to be lower level hotels.
That being said, some great bands are playing (Queens Of The Stone Age!)....will try to catch webcasts.

I hear you.....
I wish they'd get inducted as it would in some way validate them even more....but it's not looking good.
I get Nirvana....but I think they are given way too much credit. If Eddie Vedder would've offed himself and Kurt lived, I wonder how people would've viewed the 2 bands differently (and don't get me wrong, I'm a big PJ fan).

The albums section is banged up slightly.....albums don't list all the songs!

Can someone write a computer program that just goes to that site and constantly votes for them? They need to get in!

This is from the TLA show in Philly....can't remember the date....will have to find the ticket stub. I remember hanging out after the show and seeing his tour bus. A few people were lingering around seeing if he would show. Paul hung out on the steps of the bus and talked with folks....really low key. I didn't have anything for him to sign so I asked him if he could sign my earplug box. I remember him asking "did you use 'em?" and I told him no, the show sounded great! Wish I had a camera! Beautiful guitar and the fact that Paul owned it in the past makes it that much more of a score. Congrats!

Fly out to the Chicago show from NJ. Saturday, a beautiful day.....sunny, maybe high 60s. Tooled around Chicago, saw the "Bean", hit the "Ledge" at the SkyDeck. Caught the White Sox that night. Get back to the hotel, get ready for next day. Wake up and its raining....ugh. Watch 1st half of Bears game at local bar.....decide to trek over to Humboldt Park.
Train and bus over...get there and buy a 'Mats t-shirt. Walk over to catch Bob Mould's set and it just pours. Don't care as Bob plays a great set....his band is so tight. Set ends. I walk over to catch Best Coast. Very cool band....they remind me of the Beach Boys for some reason, maybe her vocals. Will seek out more of their stuff. Suicidal Tendencies are on next in same stage. Blown away by their performace. Lots of fun and energy, kids moshing and crowd surfing in a respectful manner. Their set ends.
Grab some chicken etouffee, just what I need on a damp day (did I mention the rain?). Torn on seeing the Pixies or getting good real estate for the 'Mats. 'Mats win. I get to the Riot Stage and AFI hasn't gone on yet but a lot of their fans are dug in. Decent band, really good musically but they don't really do anything for me. They did a great "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure cover. Also said how cool it will be to share the stage with the 'Mats. Their set ends and the exodus begins. Someone jokingly said "If you are under 25, please leave" but it wasn't a joke. Much of the crowd left.
I move down about 50 feet from the stage on Tommy's side. The people just keep piling in and moving down. Getting very tightly packed! The boys come on and everyone is psyched! "Takin' A Ride" opens it up and its a sing along! Song after song, just so much fun. I seriously got teary eyed at points but then they bust out another tune and the mood changes. So happy I went.....the band was very tight and they seriously looked like they were having fun. If this is a 3 concert tour so be it....I'm happy I got to see one of their last shows. But I'm hoping they tour again around here.....maybe I'll drag my 2 brothers along (we last saw them at the Beacon in 1989)!
