Let's meet up at that bar The Kids in the Hall used to hang out at. Haha. Either way, I'm down to meet up. Would love to talk to a bunch of you! I've seen a few of the "Kids" walking around the city from time to time. I think some of them are Mats fans, who knows, we may even see a few at the show.

Anyone interested in searching vintage clothing/book stores in T if there is time? Anyone know of some good ones? The Kensington Market area has quite a few vintage clothing stores, as well as some nice little restaurants and shops. Good place to walk around on a summer's day. There's some great book stores in the city. If you're looking for new, "The World's Biggest Bookstore" on Edward Street is a great place to go. For used there's a bunch of good ones: "BMV Books" has a few locations and is definitely one to check out (conveniently there's one right beside "The World's Biggest Bookstore.") "Balfour Books" is another good used one I'd recommend. There are a few other good ones and many with a good selection of used records/CDs. Okay, did a quick search found this list, it pretty much covers most of the best ones: www.blogto.com/toronto/the_best_used_bookstores_in_toronto/And here's one for vintage clothes: www.blogto.com/toronto/the_best_vintage_clothing_stores_in_toronto/

In for Toronto. Has a meet-up destination been selected yet? Not yet. I've added a few more suggestions to my original list though. Here are a few suggestions for possible meet up places. I tried to pick ones fairly close to the venue and west end hotels that most out-of-towners are probably staying at. They’re all fairly big so they can accommodate a big group if necessary and are casual establishments; decent places to hang out, have some food, drink and conversation: SATURDAY NIGHT (Slightly further from venue but closer to the downtown core. Good area for bar hopping):
Irish Embassy Pub and Grill - 49 Yonge Street • 416-866-8282 • Sat & Sun: 11:00am - 2:00am (Good place to hang out with friends and have some food and drinks.)
P.J. O'Brien Irish Pub & Restaurant - 39 Colborne Steet • 416-815-7562 • Sat: 11:00am - 2:00am/Sun: closed (A few blocks away from Irish Embassy. Another fun place to hang out for drinks.)
Bier Markt - 58 The Esplanade • 416-862-7575 • Sat: 11:00am - 2:00am/Sun: 11:00am - 1:00am (Another good choice, and it's fairly close to P.J. O'Brien's and the Irish Embassy, just in case someone is considering a bit of a pub crawl.)
SUNDAY AFTERNOON (Closer to venue so good area for a before show meet up. Also good area to do some bar hopping):Bier Markt - 600 King Street West • 416-862-1175 • Sat: 11:00am - 2:00am/Sun: 11:00am - 1:00am (Less than a km away from the venue, roughly a 10 minute walk. This one is the closest to the venue and another good option to hang out for food and drinks.)
Jack Astor's - 133 John Street • 416-595-9100 • Sat: 11:00am - 2:00am/Sun: 11:00am - 1:00am (This place has 2 floors so lots of space. I go here to meet up with friends on a Friday night from time to time.) Fionn MacCool's - 310 Front Street W. • 416-340-1917 • Sat: 10:00am - 1:00am/Sun: 10:00am - 11:00pm (I don't think I’ve ever been to the one at this location but I’ve been to a few of the other locations. Decent place for food and drinks from what I recall. This one is the closest to the venue of the bunch I've listed for what it's worth.) Shoeless Joe's Sports Grill - 276 King Street W. • 416-596-4203 • Sat & Sun: 11:30am - 2:00am (Sort of a generic bar & grill. Not a bad place to hang out for a few drinks and a meal.) Town Crier Pub & Halfway Beer House - 115 John Street • 416-204-9588 • Sat & Sun: 11:00am - 2:00am (Never been in here but walked by it a ton of times. It sounds like it has a great selection of beer, and decent food choices. It's just a few doors down from Jack Astor's.)
Any of the ones listed for Sunday are also good for a Saturday night—and vice versa—if one doesn't want to venture over to the Yonge Street area. For Saturday night I'd recommend starting at the Irish Embassy (they take reservations, good if a big group is going.) For Sunday afternoon—before the festival—the Beir Markt (600 King Street West) being so close to the venue makes it the obvious first choice. Of course, if anyone has other suggestions please throw them out there I can add them to the list.

I think because this is an outdoor show with no assigned seating and lots of tickets available, it pretty much kills the need for non-transferable tickets.

I got a response today saying Toronto was scheduled to end by 11pm each night (though we can always assume things like this run a bit late). I figured it be 11 p.m. All outdoor shows seem to end at that time here, damn those noise ordinance laws.

That is a great story, I love it. If I end up going to the Chicago show I will have to buy you a drink.

I checked the Ticketfly website the other day and saw this regarding someone else using tickets you bought:
I couldn't find “Tickets are Non-transferable” on the tickets I have. I'd assume someone other than the original purchaser should be able to use them without an issue.

I'd like to see Small Change, I Got My Name From Rock And Roll, and Portlandia jam with the boys. So that's Tom Waits, Wilco and Fred Armisen/Carrie Brownstein? Not sure who I'd want to see join them on stage. The only one I'd really like to see would be "Scary paintings drummer." Okay, here's another that would be cool to see: "Main Offender who falls from coconut tree." I'm totally down with Waits and Wilco too.

Now that is a true adventure. Chicago is a fun town, I'm sure you'll have a great time. There's a big Irish presence in that city so you should feel right at home.

To be honest I don't feel the need to see any bands before Best Coast. maybe others feel the same way here? Yeah, I only really want to see these bands (in order of importance): The Replacements, Iggy and The Stooges, The Weakerthans, Dinosaur Jr. and Best Coast. Maybe the first two bands are good, but I don't know them at all and Rockets from the Crypt I know but what I've heard didn't grab me.

The Irish Embassy Pub (49 Yonge Street) is an amazing place. Great bar and great food and it's like ten minutes from the Fort. Let me know what yallz think. Also are we going to need a special sign or greeting to recognize us like "Paul is not dead" or "chikabadeebis" Or should we all wear like a yellow gardenias in our hair or something? Oh and thanks to our Mod for some great suggestions. I've had some good times there, good bar. Thought about adding it to my list, only reason I didn't was the distance from the venue (3 kms, about a 35 minute walk.) Of course if one is going by taxi it's not an issue.

Like waitressinthesky said, the Subway will give you more options as far as it running later and more frequently, though it's really only an option for people staying in the Toronto/Etobicoke/Scarborough areas. For people staying west of the city, GO transit will be your best bet. Thankfully GO transit recently changed its schedule, so trains run a lot more frequently than they used to. So it's a pretty good option for most, plus it's a generally more comfortable and enjoyable a ride than the subway in my opinion. For anyone planning on using the GO train after the show, the last GO train heading west out of Toronto Union Station on the Sunday night (technically Monday) will be at 00:43. If you're leaving from the—closer to the venue—Exhibition station (about 1 km away from venue) the last train will be at 00:49. If you're staying in the Port Credit, or Clarkson area of Mississauga, or further west like Oakville or Burlington, there are GO buses that you can catch from Union Station at 01:30 and 02:30 if you miss the last GO train. Of course if you miss those it is cab time. Not too bad an expense if you can split it with other people. Here's the official GO Transit schedule for anyone that wants to peruse it (scroll down to page 6 for the Sunday schedule): www.gotransit.com/publicroot/en/PDF/Timetables/CurrentBoard/Table01.pdf

All right, the tickets are now bought and sitting on my desk thanks to the print at home option.

There's some great lines in there and the chorus is pretty catchy. Nice work Thomas. If you were my neighbor I'd come over and help you knock out a take #19 .

I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. The lack of music or Mats' in the film was not an issue for me. People who are fans of the band already have the songs tattooed in their brains anyway, and people discovering the band for the first time will have their curiosity piqued by all the stories, and will no doubt search out the music afterwards. It's sort of a throwback to the old days—pre-internet—where you'd read a music book or magazine about a band and go buy the record. The film opens the door but leaves it up to the viewer to pursue things further, I kinda like that.

Which Paul poster was it? Not the clearest image, but on the right side you can see the Paul picture just to the left of the Maria McKee one. It looks like an album cover possibly. I guess they did one up for the movie. Maybe they got some images from Paul or his manager.

there was a Paul Westerberg framed picture hanging in the wall of his home office! Maybe someone else can verify that is they see it,,,it was towards the end of the movie. Yeah, I noticed the Paul poster too. Pretty cool to see some Paul love in the movie (and Graham Parker too which was pretty great.)

49:00 is a proper album as far as I'm concerned. The songs flow well together and thanks to the editing and sequencing the whole thing feels like there's some overall artistic vision involved in putting it together. More so than some of Paul's "proper" albums I'd venture to say. I don't believe that production values or standard song structures (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus) should necessarily be the criteria that define what makes a record a "proper" release or not either. Those values are for the commercially and conventionally minded artists, not for someone like Paul. If Paul wants to sprinkle in some short songs that may only have a verse or chorus, who are we to say the songs aren’t complete. One of the things that makes 49:00 refreshing for me are those unique and terse songs that come and go all short and sweet like. It may seem tossed off to many, but I’d argue that as a whole it’s as cohesive a piece of work as anything else the man has released to date. So yes, definitely a proper album, and at 44 minutes it is actually the length of a typical vinyl record so even better.
