Went to see the movie This is 40 yesterday and was surprised with all the great references to some of my favorite bands. All in all, The Pixies, Ryan Adams (who is actually in the movie), Billie Joe Armstrong (who is also in the movie), and my favs....Paul Rudds character wearing a Bob Mould t-shirt, and mentioning a Paul Westerberg album that sold well,,,,and I'm not entirely positive (alright, about 95% positive), there was a Paul Westerberg framed picture hanging in the wall of his home office! Maybe someone else can verify that is they see it,,,it was towards the end of the movie.
My girlfriend is actually starting to look at me in a different light. When I first met her she had never heard of bands like the Replacements, Husker Du, Ryan Adams, etc. Now that she is seeing all the mentions lately...I believe she is thinking I might actually be a little cool! lol

I went to see Graham Parker two weeks ago in St. Paul, and afterwards ran into Graham and the Rumour hanging out in the hotel bar. I had interviewed him a few years ago, so he came over and chatted with us a bit. He told the whole story of how he reunited the Rumour, and then just a few days later Apatow contacted him about being in the film. Apatow was thrilled about the reunion, and when they filmed the concert scenes flew in the band's familes as most of them had never seen them play together.

very cool, hudson....I liked Graham back in the day. Squeezin' Out Sparks was a fave of mine. he and the Rumour played here in the DC area last month and the Wash Post had a short promo interview with him and he mentioned the same story of how Apatow got in touch with him as well.

Yeah, I noticed the Paul poster too. Pretty cool to see some Paul love in the movie (and Graham Parker too which was pretty great.)

I believe it was this photo framed and hanging on the wall in their house... media.photobucket.com/image/recent/pinkdairycow1/tumblr_l7h93fdCgN1qagy8co1_500.pngThis movie was pretty funny, and I enjoyed all the music goodness too. Very cool to include Graham Parker.

Which Paul poster was it? Not the clearest image, but on the right side you can see the Paul picture just to the left of the Maria McKee one. It looks like an album cover possibly. I guess they did one up for the movie. Maybe they got some images from Paul or his manager.

Just saw the movie last night and was floored by the music...awesome! I saw the the Paul Westerberg framed pic in the movie and pointed it out on the big screen like that of little 5 year old, my BF was a bit embarrassed, grabbing my finger and "putting it away" for me....and also, just before Paul Rudd made the Paul Westerberg reference, "I WILL DARE" was being played (again, I acted like a 5 year old bopping in my seat).
I also thought it to be interesting both Paul Westerberg and Bob Mould getting noted, then to have Ryan Adams performing at movie"s end....Paul and Bob were 2 of Ryan's biggest influences, well...that was until Paul was quoted in Rolling Stone Mag in 2008 saying "He (Ryan) should have his teeth kicked in." Ouch...

Hello everybody. i must totaly agree with you about this awesome movie. and it wasnt only the music heros that were well placed also some of the musical equipment like bowers & wilkins speakers & headphone or a rotel amp. I have to admit that i got nearly a heartatack while the end of Meat Loafs - "Paradise by the Dashboardlight" was played in the car. I can imagine a cheesburger never tasted so good =D But i have a question for u guys. In the unFILTERed office there was a framed picture of a guitar/bass player in front of a full arena. I cant figure out who it is nor what this picture is called / where to buy it. Heres a screenshot of it: www.lowbird.com/data/images/2013/03/this-is-40.jpg

Finally caught this movie. The music and Paul references were cool, but I thought the movie itself was pretty bad. :/
