anyways. suggestions for those of you coming out. i highly reccommend staying out of most bars downtown minneapolis while you are here... but do go to Gleuks (always play great music!), O Donnovans (great small irish pub ), and fineline, first ave of course. fineline is really nice club, shows every night, really nice, not rock n roll ike first ave, but a great club nonetheless. Of course try and stop by the 400 bar! Matts Burgers (for the juicy lucy!)....yes. thats my biggest suggestion. myself, i'd steer away from gleuks. yuppie fvckers abound. matt's is a tip top suggestion, though, for non-vegetarians.

It's a longshot, but I'd like to hear Stain yer Blood. Also, a loud, full band version of Crackle and Drag. fuck. good choices.

Just thinking about Paul playing Motorhead's Ace of Spades had me laughing. How about Paul playing "Raining Blood" by Slayer? Or something by Morbid Angel? Now THAT would be something. Oh yeah, and all the songs would be acoustic versions.... he USED to play ace of spades.

I really do not know who the Painkillers might be...I did ask though. I'm wondering now if Paul will have to change the name of the back-up band since the name is already in use....maybe: Paul Westerberg and The Painkillers UK "the painkillers.... WITH GUITAAAR!"

i'm sorta with scoots on this. i think the painkillers are gonna be some sort of big shot hooptedoo. but that might just be wishful thinking i maintain that "painkillers" is the name of a soul asylum song. honestly, the longest shot in that line up is tommy. maybe karl will play bass....

If this is the case, I want credit for predicting it first (this morning over on AMR...) But go here, and check out these guys....listen to the soundclips....(hit where it says "pharmacy (music/video)".....you will be praying Paul didn't hire them.... www.thepainkillers.com/default.htmaaaah! it sounds like alanis morrisette joined school of fish, and they threw some digital f/x into the soup.

i'll be seeing both. i know it's not the 8 bucks at the door we all like to pay for shows (myself included), but the pantages is a restored theater. i haven't been there yet, but these places cost money to operate, and dammit, paul deserves my dough.
i have enough to spare for both, so there you have it. $50 is my cutoff for a rock & roll show. no rock concert is worth more than $50 at this point.
