this sounds like very positive news. Painkillers is sometimes used as a slang for heroin. also a friend of mine released a song called painkillers on his latest release and the guitarist from the figgs joined his band this summer. the song is about his wife's battle with cancer so their soul asylum connection here. this may be premature but i'm thinking Paulies gonna rock out. who cares if it is premature?! i agree, i have a feeling he is going blow the roof off the dump.

hey! i just had a thought (comical music)! soul asylum had a song released on a compilation album a few years ago called "painkiller".

oh man. this is great news. great news. i wonder who the "painkillers" are? will it be some conglomerate of soul asylum, golden smog (is wilco touring right now?)?
oh man. i'm going to both shows, provided i can get tix to both. haven't been to the pantages yet, either. can't wait!

Finally, joining us all the way from New York City is Mr. Westerberg, the 44-year-old ex-Replacement and dad who is in the Big Apple at the moment recording some tunes for a film soundtrack. ;D

Wow, I'm used to being the tallest person at shows at 6'6". Has anyone else noticed that there is a "dance party" type thing on the Quest calendar for 10 PM on the 21st? Will this concert really be over by 10? With this line up I hope that it last a little longer than that. that would only leave 30 to 45 min. for each band. That's not enough!!! the dance party will be bob mould's set.

Holy shit. I f*cked up. All the tickets are GONE! I just got home and I went on the website and called and ALL THE TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! *weeps like a child* This was 45 minutes after the f*cking thing went on... man, i'm sorry about that. you can still get tickets for the pantages show. *lifts eyebrows in reassurance*

only thing I've seen in the 'ascot room' (in the back, upstairs) is some Trance-type Dj's...That's a good bet for the VIP area, possibly the whole 2nd floor. ah ha. that might just be it. my buddy just emailed me to tell me i have a ticket to this thing, so put that in your pipe & smoke it!

hmmm. you sure vip is not for the main floor ? well, you know, i'm not sure. i just know there used to be this "ascot room" where bands would play that was off of the main area on the second floor (i think). never witnessed a concert in the "ascot room", so i cannot vouch for its whereabouts.

i'll be there, too. the "VIP" area is the "ascot lounge", i believe, which has its own stage.... which begs some interesting questions....

you can see pretty well at the quest, but "box" is a pretty good description. the upper rail (IF you can get a spot right at the rail) is awesome.

Isn't the London date Oct. 19? Unless he's sending in the clones, doesn't that cut it kind of close? our globetrotting paul! after the benefit show, he jets off to japan for a show in front of screaming girls at budakon.
