This is my first post on the board, so I'd just like to say "hello" and bring some good news to those of you who live near the Louisville, KY area.
WFPK (wfpk.org - but it's not on their website yet) has announced that Paul Westerberg will be in Louisville to play at the Non-Commercial Radio Conference in Louisville, which is set for May 13-15. That's all I know right now.
Obviously, I'll keep eyes and ears open for any further news. Hopefully, this means he will be touring around the same time, but it might just be a one-off to thank some of the non-commerical stations that actually care about and play his music.
Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but escaped my "thorough" search ;D

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but escaped my "thorough" search ;D I haven't posted anything about this yet because it's not 100% confirmed (but it's just about there). It's a one-off show, not part of a tour or in conjunction with the release of "Folker" (which is definitely not happening in May). Paul would/will be playing on a bill with Sonic Youth...Polyphonic Spree...and someone else incongruous that I can't remember. I seem to recall a certain Mr. P.W. of Surburban MN stating vehmently in an interview less than 2 years ago that he would never play a show again for an audience that wasn't there to see him (i.e. be an opening act or play a festival show). Never say never.... I'll try and let you know when it's all official but your best bet is checking TM or the TripleA radio site cause I have limited amount of time to pester TPTB for 'official' info these days: www.triplearadio.comk.

Thanks Kathy. They said on the air the other day that tickets would go on sale soon. As soon as I know anything, I'll post it.
The "someone else incongruous" is probably Ben Folds, who is awesome live, especially if he has a full band with him.
It's gonna be a nice birthday for me, and so soon after Derby . . .

I just booked a room for the 13th through 15th at the Brown Hotel, which is the site of the conference. The rates vary wildly, but I booked the govn rate of $69/night, not bad!! You may want to book soon if they are hosting this event. I got a double, so will likely have some space free.
Now I'm wondering if you have to be registered for the conference to attend the performances? Registration is asking for your radio or retailer affiliation. I suppose I could make one up? (Or just say I am a frequent poster on the MWT message board)

I heard about this concert the other day. the line up I heard was PW, Patty Griffin, and Sonic Youth. Sounds interesting.
btw Patty Griffin does a pretty good version of "Even Here We Are."

When you book, you can call and ask for the conference rate which is $105 I think. Or go ahead and ask for the gov/military rate. Chances are they won't ask for ID, and if they do, whip out some vet paperwork. The worse they could pull is to say no, and try to charge the standard rate.
The site also mentioned the nearby Holiday Inn which is offering a conference rate of $69..said its about a block and a half away.
I'm already planning a side trip to the Ali museum, and the louisville slugger factory! ;D
I'd would be great to see Patty G., saw her open for Lucinda a few years back when Flaming Red was out, a terrific record.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Ali museum is done yet. They are building it, but I'm not sure if there is an actual temporary home for it until then.
I'll try to put together some places of interest for all of you who will be coming in from out of town.

I'd like to make the roadie, but I'll first have to know: how are the strippers in Louisville?

I'd like to make the roadie, but I'll first have to know: how are the strippers in Louisville? There was a recent "6 feet away" law passed, but a judge has held the enforcement up. So take your chances! I heard on WFPK last night that the May 15th lineup with be Paul W, the Patti Smith group and Sonic Youth. Gonna get my tix. I've always had to go to Cincy to see Paul. Now he's gonna be 15 minutes away! Sweet! FREDDY

>>>Paul W, the Patti Smith group <<<
Add Donna Summer, a John Denver tribute band, Joey McIntyre (formerly of NKOTB), Val Kilmer (doing his Morrison I guess), Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley doing a spoken word of Wild and Lethal and you have the Born on December 31st All Stars.
(not too topic worthy but interesting)
didn' t Paul open for Patti Smith in Colorado during the Eventually tour?

I'd like to make the roadie, but I'll first have to know: how are the strippers in Louisville? I understand that the guys at "Pierre's" are oiled up and anxiously waiting your return
