Any rumblings about a vinyl release coming out? Don't want to pay twice...

Haven't posted here in a few years but just wanted to say I'm loving the album. It's really grabbed me. Definitely hanging for a vinyl release!

Vinyl? I'm still wondering what's going on with the CD release. Amazon took pre-orders and then changed the release date to "unknown" on release day.

This just keeps getting better and better. Everyday I'm finding a new favourite song. I love Outta My Sytem! The bridge, the solo is bloody perfect. Every single tune... Haven't enjoyed an album this much in a long time.

First listen, I was pleasantly surprised by Wild Stab. I was expecting the worst, as I thought 1/2 2 P was an embarrassment... The album is ragged, tuneful, rocking, and I agree with whoever said that some of the songs seem as if they were intended for the Mats to record ("Wear Me Out Loud" and, I think, "Need the Guys").
As one who has complained in the past about Paul's drumming, I was also happy to hear that the drums sound much better. Maybe Paul has improved over the years or maybe the drums were better recorded, I don't know. I'm pretty sure, though, that there's a drum machine on several of the tracks.

Accepting the album for what it is -- another lo-fi basement recording with distractingly mediocre drumming -- I really, really like this album. Might even love it after some more listens.
JH brings more than just a nice female voice -- their affection for each other really brings some of these songs to life, especially Kissing Break and Born For Me. The pacing is wonderful and I don't mind the throwaways like 1/2 2P or Gone, Gone, Gone. It's a fun listen with some great tunes.

It's been such a long time since an album has stuck on me like this. Even when I'm not listening to it, the songs keep playing in my head. Pretty much all of them!

Does anyone realise that 'Kissing Break' is a complete rip off from the Kris Kristofferson 'Help Me Make it Through the Night'!

¶ rock and roll ain't dead. and this album is good-god proof. ¶ it's certainly a wild stab, and it sure puts all the coldplay, mumford baloney to shame. from the introduction of Paul playfully re-introducing himself with being 'back' to the mean-streaked 'done, done, done,' this is wonderfully imperfect concoction of everything he's been building toward since "all shook down." it captures the spontenaity of "stereo/mono" and "49:00" and yet provides a purely focused -- and perfectly paced -- album of finely crafted rock and roll music. ¶ ¶ i couldn't stop air-guitaring most every song in my seat on the way to the virgin islands. and my toes are still tapping. ¶ and it seems as if Paul's having fun making music again. there's a genuine playfullness to this release, from what comes off as a simple, yet complex ditty of "(half) to pee." the best part, and what had been my biggest worry, is what Juliana's influence would be. rather than smudge her fingerprints all over this thing, she gets out of the way and provides a purely complimentary role, allowing Paul to shine.
¶ dont' get me wrong, this is a great collaboration, and one that was required for Paul to focus on the music he's had lingering around. rather than put out another throw-away under-produced collection of basement tapes, there's actually a loose feel that there's been some thought put forth into putting this album together. it's almost produced. and what Juliana does contribute echoes that of the songs Paul collaborated on with Joan Jett and Johnette Napolitano. ¶ ¶ i wept through half this album, whether it's the guitar-driven "kissing break," or the anthemic "king of america." ¶ both deserve to be hits, if those things still applied in this modern download age. ¶ there's also a real tenderness here, and there's a nasty mats sound that echoes through this release.
¶ it's the pace, and i hate to repeat myself, that slays me. ¶ to go from "king of america" to "little people," and then follow up with two killer rockers that ring your ears and knock your socks off is something Paul's been admittedly seeking to accomplish since the "don't tell a soul" days. he's something, aint' he? ¶ ¶ "just a phase," might be the lone dud, given that it drags along and along and predictably along. ¶ ¶ yes, they need to tour. yes, they need to explore more of the unrecorded and incomplete portions of Paul's catalogue. but let's say this, given the finicky nature of Paul's productivity, this is a more than welcome release. it once again solidifies what we've always believed, that Paul pales to no one in this rock and roll business, and that he's pretty much better than the rest.
¶ the grammy's are coming up, and i'm quite confident that modern corporate farce will continue by overlooking everything that matters. ¶ all i know is that there's still a torch glowing, and this is proof that music still matters. raw, mean and cantankarous. a middle finger raised in an i don't care moment from a poet, refreshed. ¶ ¶ so stand aside, and raise a big whiskey, cause here -- godamit -- comes a regular. ¶ i want more, and more, and more.

I wondered how long it would take before people who have some unnatural antipathy towards Juliana Hatfield would feel compelled to make snide comments just to bum out everybody else...Not long... amen.

I got to listen to the CD for the first time today (several times, as the case may be). I'm glad I held off on listening to the songs online. All I can say is that not too many songs make me laugh and cry at the same time, but damn, King of America is a doozy. I must've listened to it 10 times already, and I have a few hours left before I go to bed.

"King of America" is one of the best things he's ever done...
