I know. I know. Got this one off the CMI site but I really liked it and was just wondering.................( plus I am completely, totally, overwhelmingly, non-rationally addicted to these things)

OK - I didn't feel much like doing much work this morning The faded Les Paul is the newest and it totally rocks. The Ibanez Artcore is also an excelent axe. The Squire Fat Tele would be much better with two humbucklers. The Oscar Schmidt is a very good guitar for the money and has a nice tone. The Epi isn't exactly what I have, I paid only $100 for mine, but it was the only one that looked similar on MF.

The Les Paul with the TV Jones color. Suhweeeet! I just bought a 58 Les Paul Epiphone with the Honeyburst ( Jimmy Page, Billy Gibbons) finish off ebay. This guy is a paint contractor and sets up industrial paint booths. One of his customers just happens to be the worldwide refinishing center for Gibson and Epiphone. Got an absolute steal on the guitar, I mean rediculous. It doesn't have a mark on it and it plays like butter. I've got the guys ebay store if anyone is interested. Thanks for the participation (you're feeding the beast) and keep em coming.

I share your interest. When I think about all the guitars I've bought and then had to turn around and sell, it makes me so sad. Case in point, the telecaster in this picture (from 12/93) was a sweet guitar but it had to go to pay the rent. Tift Merritt bought it.

I can completely relate. I have this buddy who about 15 years ago wanted to learn to play the guitar. As I had an extra flat top lying around, I said hey borrow this one and let me show you a few chords. After about 6 months, he gets pretty decent and says I need to get my own electric. Goes out to the Shelby Co flea market at about 7am, guy pulls old case off truck, "What do you got there?". Guy says old guitar, no bridge, no strings. Opens case and lo and behold its a 61 Gibson Les Paul Jr ( SG looking, single pickup P90). My friend says how much? Guy says "Would $75 be too much"? Why, no it wouldn't. I tell you this because after that initial experience my buddy comes to think there must be others out there. Here we are 15+ years later and he has about 15 Les Pauls, SG's, Gretsch 6120, White Falcon, Duo Jets and probably 15-20 other vintage american made guitars all through trades and swindles. I got it bad, He got it clinical!!! They are out there still and I love hearing about what people play and how they got there instruments. There's usually an interesting story behind it.

Now you got me started. Bought this Melody Maker (June '95) for less than $200. Somebody put a P90 on it and it sounded wonderful. This guitar was stolen from our practice shed along with all of the speakers from PA and amps, frums, mixers, etc. Totally cleaned us out.

That absolutely, postitively SUCKS!!!!!!. It also scares the hell out of me because I just bought a bunch of PA Equipment, almost exact speakers, amp, EQ, vocal processor, rack case...the works. Got most of it from a women who opened a bar in Detroit. Bar goes under after 6 months and I become the beneficiary. Truly unbelievable deal. ( Wouldn't believe me if I told you) I can't imagine after all the finagling I did to actually get the system that I really wanted, what it would be like to have it gone "Pooof". As Homer once said, " Urge to KILL Rising".
Especially the Melody Maker Johnny Thunders Special. OUCH!!!!

This was my only guitar for a long time. '69 SG Jr. I bought it right after high school for $500 (tuners are not original) and sold it last year to a guy in France for a $1000. I had played it alot and had a good amount of wear. I was kinda missing it until I bought the Les Paul.

That looks almost identical to the one my buddy bought at the flea market that started the insanity.
Probably my greatest scoop was about ten years ago when a guy puts a 65 P bass in the paper for $190. I go over there thinking there is no way this is a Fender. But sure enough all original with matching numbers. Anyway, I pluck it for a couple of minutes and the guy says you know I put a lot of instruments in the paper at one time. What price did I list on that one. I said Well you put on there $190 to which he replies no, no that's wrong. so now I am thinking here we go $1400+. He says no thats wrong it should have been $150. I slam case shut, instantly peel off $150 and hit the door as fast as possible. Still have the bass. Still Love it. It really is a classic and actually one of the nicer pieces that I could actually afford.

How do you post a picture like these? I'll throw mine up with a brief description of the unholy circumstances in which I aquired most of these. Should be good for a laugh. T

"Not that I'm a great musician or anything, but here's what I've got:" Looks like you have the bases covered. I sort of have the same type collection. Fenders, Epiphone, Gretsch. With that combo you can almost get any tone. But its all part of the OCD addiction, addiction, addiction.................................................

T Don't know if it's the best way, but this is how I did it: Go to musiciansfriend.com and do a search for the guitar you want to post. Click on "view larger picture". When the picture opens up, right click on it, click on "Properties" in the dropdown box that opens and highlight the line after "Address(url)". Right click on the address, click "copy", and paste the address here, highlight it after pasting it, and click on the fourth box above(insert image), right above the emoticons. That should do it.

Finally!!! its been really crazy busy around the ville. haven't had chance to pick up where I left off. Let's try this again, shall we? So I'm looking for one of these 1952 reissues for about 7 years. Can't find one that I can afford. go into music go round and tell the manager what I am looking for and drop a card. Next day I get a phone call from him that they got one in. I say how much. He says $700. I say I'm on my way. Get there. No guitar to be found and I'm thinking someone beat me to it after 7 years. To my surprise it is hanging above the register. Score!!! Mine actually has the maple fretboard as well. Always wanted a strat with the Hendrix headstock. My first ablum when I was like 6 years old was Hendrix in the West and I have been fixated on this guitar since then. BTW, I bought this online before Christmas 2 years ago. When Fed Ex brought it to my house, they left it on the front doorstep. Which makes me wonder that if you were so inclined, you could follow the Fed Ex truck prior to Christmas and load up on all sorts of early Xmas presents. Just a thought. I ask for signature required packages from here on out. It really is a classic and actually one of the nicer pieces that I could actually afford. What can you say. This is a classic. Saw Setzer in 83-84. that was it. Lusted for one of these until I couldn't take it anymore. Plays like butter with tone galore and a cherry on top One of my first guitars. Gretsch BST 1000. Actually had a Gretsch Corvette with the bigsby bar and filtertron pickups. Traded it for a classical guitar and some weed, Me thinks. When I wanted another electric, I bought this. I really like it. Sort of a cross between a tele and a les paul. got to have one of these to play Graham Parson, Jay Farrar, Westy stuff. Mine has a pick guard on it but I think it was discontinued about 25 years ago as I have never seen another like it.

Nice Turser there Mac....though I might be a little scared to fall over drunk and impale myself on one.... I'm always game to post some guitar pics....(gotta keep up with blastman) 1985 Fender Contemporary Telecaster (ala Frank Black). Newly added Baggs bridge and Duncan P-90's. 1979 Fender Stratocaster. My workhorse since 1987. The Kahler Pro whammy bar is a leftover from a long forgotten age. 2000 Peavey Generation EXP. Cheap, decent sounding and playing electric with a great acoustic pickup built in the bridge. 90's Martin DMXE. Not anywheres near a D-28....but it takes a beating and keeps on ticking.
