There is a guy on the Harmonycentral.com reviews that says that he got lucky and recieved the first run. Does anyone know the story behind the first and second runs on this thing? I have noticed that some pictures show it with chrome barrel knobs rather than the white speed knobs.

I have not heard about that...Westerberg has been photographed with the "chrome knobs" version, but I just assumed that was an early proto-type. At the Open Season premier he played what appeared to be the "off the shelf" copy with the white knobs. CF

So I finally decide to buy this guitar, go to the Toys "R" Us website and it's nowhere to be found. Anyone know where it can be found for under $100? After seeing Toys "R" Us great price, there's no way I'm going to pay $50 more for it.

I bought mine through Amazon and as much as I would like to get all guitar techy about this guitar, I really just bought it as a collectors item and with no worries about how it plays. I do however think it is a fine guitar for the price. www.myspace.com/randallgregCheers, Greg

CF FYI - I checked today and it is back on sale for $89 on the Toys R Us website.

Just checked - no PW to be found. However, I did order the First Act Michael Stipe Lap Harp (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2321952&cp=&pg=2&fbx=0&fbn=Brand+Name+Secondary|First+Act&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255967&f=PAD%2FBrand+Name+Secondary%2FFirst+Act&fbc=1&kw=first+act&parentPage=search). Next time someone out there is jamming and needs a lap harpist, give me a shout.

For $89.99! www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2419343&cpI bought one a few months ago and it's definitely worth this price. In fact, in my opinion, it's worth a little more than that. Not a bad guitar at all.

Ebay has one with a bid starting at $59.99. plus $35 shipping and handling. rip off.

That is egregious and outrageous, ih8music, but if the bidding stays where it is, that's a $95 guitar. It's a big if but crazier shit has happened. For example, a coffee company released Paul McCartney's latest album. Here's another: The f@!ckin' Milwaukee Brewers are in first place. That hasn't happened since like 1893.

I am gonna bite, for my son's birthday in two weeks. Looks like Toys Ain't Us anymore. Any other low price suggestions? Otherwise I will go with Amazon I guess.

I finally got back home and had this guitar waiting on me (thanks to the wife). I really like everything about it so far except the edge of the fret board. The edge of the fret board on mine is really sharp. I am not talking about the frets just the angle of the binding. It makes the neck feel much wider than it really is and is very uncomfortable to me. Has anyone else had this problem. I think I am going to go over with some sand paper and try to round it off a little. If I screw it up I can alway get another I guess.

On mine the frets are a little to long and hang off the fretboard a little bit..I've considered filing them down but its not a big problem. What you describe sounds like something different which I have not noticed. CF

Yeah, seems that the only complaint out there is the sharp fret. My neck curves around and then goes straight into the fret board kind of a right angle and creates and unconfortable corner. My frets aren't even close to being too long, so I am thinking that the neck should be beveled on the side prior to the frets going on and mine just didn't get beveled.

I got mine a few months ago for under $100 including S&H. While I liked it at the time, I had a really hard time keeping it in tune. I sort of assumed that I need to get new tuning heads, which would probably cost at least $40-50. Kind of a lot for a $100 dollar guitar.
Yesterday, I replaced the strings on the guitar (I had left the crappy brittle stock strings on this entire time). It's like a completely different guitar--it stays in tune a lot better, it sound brighter and rockier, and it's just a lot more fun to play.
This is a really nice guitar for the price. Fun and quirky.

Here's my review: Its a decent guitar and it sounds decent. has some bite, and has a real p90 growl if/when you crank it up. I would suggest a pro setup with any new guitar, this is no exception. nice neck and comfortable body to sit and play. light when standing.

There must be quite a few of these in a warehouse somewhere - the price is dropping like a lead balloon.
