I think that makes 24 tracks(counting These Days twice). Should be a nice CD project to gather together! Songs For Slim tracks might be fair game too, then that opens up the door for Cruella DeVille.
I guess maybe the mats' can have their own covers comp someday.

Name every officially released or radio session cover song Westerberg has done.
I want to make my own covers album.

I like Country Boy! PW always slays with something on his releases.

Not a knock against the terrain PW has mined songs from since he's been down in the basement,BUT if he can do a stylistic album like Dead Man Shake, maybe a Tommy Keene style pop album is also in his grasp. Perhaps an album made using nothing but software and letting his freak flag fly that way.

Maybe it's about the artist trading places with the fans.

The question needs to be asked, did Wallace make the best album he could,or just strip everything away? Like,is there a happy medium between the two versions of this album.I hear a lot of drumsticks counting off songs, which makes the intros seem pretty raw. There seems to be no filter on the color of the sound, probably the point, but could there have been without taking away from the revelatory mix of Dead Man's Pop?
Also, love the deluxe package, but individual cases for the Cd's would have been nice.I listen to music on the go more than sitting down in front of the stereo and immersing myself.
This album seems so out of left field now in the mats' catalogue, which I love.It makes DTAS sound more transparently embellished when you hear some of the shimmer that comes in in places.
Westerberg's voice may be one of the best improvements on the new mix.Sounds more authentic to the guys real voice.Sounded kind of syrupy before. Also Slim gets to shine a bit.
I could see how the mix of DTAS could possibly wreck the band.

Bare with me.First take of first listen. Trying to wrap my head around it in context with this being the follow up to PTMM and what came before. It's goop-less.My ears are adjusting.Sounds dry against 30 years of DTAS.Just the initial contrast, but diamonds,or white caps, are beginning to sparkle in this mix as I adjust.Replacements textures coming to life. The songs transformed, the writing given new life. The Bob-less air shaft version of CHW comes to mind,Americana pop & pow. Sounds more Twin Tone than Sire in that regard. The band turning up the heat, carrying on.Bearsville gems, one by one playing now. I never took out DTAS,three songs in,an threw it out the window, and now it get's to be what it always was,a Replacements album! Thanks Dunlaps,Mehr,Wallace, band.
