Not trying to be insensitive here, but isn't time of the essence here? It's been months since Slim's wife first made it known that they were in way over their heads with the bills. I mean, I can wait for new music, but it sounds like she can't really wait for those royalties.

I could be wrong, but I hope that the new tracks (by all artists) are released digitally first as a set to generate quick royalties. I would think the auctions of limited edition vinyl would still command the same price/value whether the tracks are previously available or not.
That being said, I hope that people willing to (and can afford to) contribute to Slim and his family are not holding back while waiting to bid on an auction item that had an announced release/auction start date of "December".
Hopefully the powers that be will come up with a press release that states release dates and auction information that best benefits the Dunlap family now.

Probably the lawyers are slowing the progress. The musicians have done their part. That's the only thing I can think of.

Just a few days ago, Lucinda Williams posted a couple of pics from her recording session. I'm sure they want everything ready before they unveil it.

Call me crazy, but the features of the eyes in Chris's painting bear more than a passing resemblance to Slim...

Call me crazy, but the features of the eyes in Chris's painting bear more than a passing resemblance to Slim... you are not crazy. that was precisely my first thought upon seeing the cover.

So now this is being promoted as a Replacements EP? That's a bit of a stretch from everything we already know about it.

So now this is being promoted as a Replacements EP? That's a bit of a stretch from everything we already know about it. I think it is mostly because the Replacements' name will bring in more money for Slim than "Paul and Tommy (and backing band) + a separately recorded song (and cover art) by Chris". Plus, it was produced by Jesperson. Given all the involvement, it's pretty close.

It's like saying the Beatles were back together whenever Ringo played with Paul McCartney. I think listing the names of Paul, Tommy and Chris on the cover would have still captured the same attention and been more accurate. But I'm still happy for the project and hope they raise all the money they need.

Yeah, but Chris could have played drums and co-written the songs, and there'd be people saying it wasn't The Replacements because Bob wasn't on there...

I think it's fine to call it a Replacements record. I always appreciated how The Traveling Wilburys included Roy Orbison in this video after his passing. The Mats could do something similar.

It's pretty subjective, but for me, I just had a hard time buying it after Chris left. I loved Bob, but PTTM was a great record and Slim was really cool (in a very different way than Bob). It was pretty obvious - stated even - that Paul didn't want ASD To be a Replacements record, so it basically wasn't, except for the name on the sleeve. I don't think this project is any more The Replacements than The Who is The Who without Keith and John. It's just for a way better cause. I'm still stoked to hear it - betting on liking it more than anything I've heard from Paul in years.
