interesting....I saw some You Tube video of Tommy the other month, being interviewed, and he mentioned something like there may be a renewed life for some of the Mats stuff in that it's the children of the original fans who are discovering or being introduced to the Mats music....
It'd be cool if there was a renaissance for the band to the point where there is demand for new music by them.

The Caps played the Wild today (they got crushed, the Caps are in serious decline although Ovechkin scored 2 goals). And during a break in the action, the arena in St. Paul played "Alex Chilton"

Episode 3 of the new HBO show Rain Dogs used Little Mascara over the final scene and end credits. It was a great use of the song. The show is worth checking out.

RIP Seymour Stein. Signed the ‘Mats to Sire, which birthed Tim, Pleased to Meet Me, Don’t Tell a Soul, etc.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Not too familiar with these Guardians of the Galaxy movies, I did see the first one with my young at the time son in the theater, he loved them. But it seems the director, James Gunn, is a huge fan of The Mats. The guy would be at home here in this forum. link

Not a Replacements “sighting,” but my brother texted me tonight: “3 beer buzz, life is so good,” followed by a link to “Things.” What a song. It got me thinking: what PW songs do you guys and gals, you PW evangelists, send to friends and fam and strangers hoping they fall for Paul?

good gawd...I got a political campaign fund raising email from Minn Senator Amy Klobuchar on the behalf of a local US Senator in my area. But he's not even my Senator but I got on somebody's email list. It's Sen. Tim Kaine from Virginia. In it, he writes:
"I’m Tim Kaine. Many of you know me as a U.S. Senator, but my passion for service and fighting for equality started long before I entered the public eye.
In my career, I’ve been a teacher, a missionary, a civil rights lawyer, a Mayor, Governor, Senator, and on the presidential ticket as a Vice Presidential candidate." and blah blah blah, the usual sales pitch. but at the end, he writes:
"Like many of you, I’m a huge music fan -- and I’m not bad on the harmonica. Some of my favorites are The Replacements, Charlie Parker, and the Carter Family."

I remember hearing about that in 2016, I think there's a short video of him and Tommy hanging out. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/see-replacements-fan-tim-kaine-jam-with-tommy-stinson-107833/

Thanks, I had forgotten about it, but I find it funny he's going after the Mats vote! Still dunno how the hell I got on some political campaign email list from Amy Klobuchar. I've never been a resident of Minnesota, have no ties to the state.
If Tim wanted some fundraising stuff, why didn't his staff just contact me directly? I live in the DMV (District, Maryland, and Virginia) area. Weird, I don't get how they got my email address to begin with or who would've sold it to some campaign.

yeah, interesting how he changed the lyrics for the final version. Just saying it myself, "I wish once was me" doesn't seem to roll off the tongue so easily? maybe he also went with "pretty sure..." because it's more concise? I dunno---but I never knew of this version. Or if it someone posted this before, I forgot about it.
Also, what does the baby crying mean? How are others interpreting it? Does it mean that the narrator was basically used because the woman wanted a partner just to have a baby? the baby is the only thing to make her happy and she's kicked the narrator to the curb already?
I do recall reading somewhere---maybe here?---that the baby crying is actually Johnny. I dunno how true that is, but then again, given that PW disappeared for awhile when Johnny was born, where else was he going to get a soundclip of a crying baby while he was recording stuff in the basement?
