just a random tidbit, I subscribe to Backstreets, the Springsteen magazine <cough>geek</cough>, and in the latest issue, all of the subject headings in the Letters section are Mats songs: "Unsatisfied", "Color Me Impressed", "I'll Buy", etc etc.
I've never heard Paul on the subject of Bruce (that I recall), Bueller, anyone?
k.

Never read nor heard of Paul commenting on Bruce, but somewhere I've got a bootleg with the Mats playing just a horrible cover of Born In The USA, it's pretty hilarious.

on the subject of Bruce - i read (in this week's Phoenix article about Theo Epstein and that benefit show) that Bruce said when he played at Fenway, that he never saw a venue so representing a community. As if our community is almost all white, and with enough money to go to his show, or even a Red Sox game for that matter. Have you ever been to a Sox game? it's almost like a clan rally. I don't think Bruce gets out much.

Hmmmm.......I don't remember reading anything about PW commenting on the Boss. Speaking of bad Mats covers, anyone heard their cover of "Kid's Don't Follow" which they play to the music of "I Will Follow" by U2? Its pretty damn funny. Paul starts it by asking, "I will follow?"

doesn't Bruce always look like he's constipated when he's singing a song?..

I don't think any of you comprehend the depth of our hostesses' affection for "The Boss".
Until I get busy at work I depend on you people for entertainment. Do NOT get yourselves banned.

Not trying to suck up to our webmistress, ;D but...
Screw all you guys, Bruce is the shit and saved rock n roll in the '70s just as much as the Replacements did in the '80s.
Just admit to yourselves how much you love Thunder Road and you'll feel a lot better.

Monkey, put down that crack pipe this very second. The 70's were saved by The Jam, Ramones, Pistols, NY Dolls, Radio Birdman, Clash, Boomtown rats......even the Police did more than Springsteen. You vying for a free hoodie or something Jesus....

K
I have never heard any mention of Paul or the mats by Bruce. I know we did a song with Mike Ness of Social Distortion on his solo record, so he does have some good taste!
To the non- Boss fans, see him live it'll change your mind!

In the underground, sure, but it's hard to think of anyone more responsible for bringing rock back to the mainstream and saving the decade from disco, prog, etc. That being said, are there plans for MWT hoodies? ;D

I don't own any of the Boss' records but when I was 16 I worked in a huge restaurant and was a bagel baker. The bagels were baked in the middle of the restaurant so diners could watch the whole process. we used to have those 3 hour reels of music in the manager's office and one busy Christmas season the manager was too lazy to change out the reels and he kept playing the one that had 2 Springsteen songs on it.
I used to take the first notes of "Brilliant Disguise" and "My Hometown" as my cue to sneak off to the bathroom and smoke cigarettes and cry and curse myself for ever being born.

K To the non- Boss fans, see him live it'll change your mind! gravy Did so for my wife's birthday, didn't change my mind, sorry. However, my wife was pleased. However, I did recently buy Darkness on the Edge of Town on CD, and its not bad. Bruce also gets a bonus point for appearing on L Reed's Street Hassle.

i cant say i like bruce really, but i appreciate him as a musician, and a person....i saw him on charlie rose once, and he was pretty darned interesting...i think he has gotten alot more subtle in the past decade, i always found his music a little too bombastic....just one mans opinion.....never heard of paul commenting on the boss though......
