A "mandatory" live show? Like, what, court-ordered? Haha “back by (un)popular demand”

It’s interesting. I just googled the I Don’t Cares. There are coffee mugs, tote bags, tank tops, even a tapestry! And an eBay CD for almost $100. Pretty sure Paul and Juliana aren’t making any skin from those. Most of the rock n roll t-shirts and swag one sees on the internet are unauthorized merchandise. Doesn't take much to bootleg shirts using images grabbed from the web and printing 'em up. Even The Gap got into hot water years ago for selling bootleg t-shirts. From what I understand, it is extremely hard to control because it is so rampant. And it takes money and time for an artist to get a court order to cease sales. As far as Mind Control, they primarily sell unauthorized live albums.

More conflicting news coming in as Garage Land reports (in threads on Instagram posts) they'll be releasing the other 2 Riot Fest shows on vinyl too. No release date or other info, just that "it's a vinyl production issue right now." Confusing that there's no mention of Cobraside, and recent internet message board "off the record" but trusted-by-some sources cited future releases were nixed.

After listening to this, now I really wish they would release something from the 2015 run. This show is too polite. They sounded better once the rot started to set in. The classic Westerberg attitude isn't quite there with this being the first show back.

The classic Westerberg attitude isn't quite there with this being the first show back. Agree. First show in decades isn't the place to start with a live record. Milwaukee or the second Hollywood show were standouts of the reunion shows I heard. An official St. Paul LP-DVD would be about perfect.
That said, it's better than I expected. I still have all the same reservations about it, not getting the vinyl, but politics and ethics aside, it's an interesting, worthwhile document of the event.

Hard to believe the reunion kicked off 9 years ago this month. I didn't make it to Toronto, but I caught the Denver show and then 3 more the following year. What a time.

I Bought.
My wife and I went to Toronto and I have indelible memories from it. They were excitingly refreshed by this. (I went for those VIP tickets in the fenced area, as the day before was my 45th and we're not fit for the nonsense in front of stage any longer. Jesse Malin sided up at one point as we waited for the Mats and kept looking at me, waiting for me to say "Hey, aren't you....?" but I wouldn't and he finally left.)
I'm always suspicious of these releases that don't appear in official catalogs or aren't completely sanctioned by the band. When I heard that, possibly, Tommy approved, it changed for me. Plunked my cash down via Amazon and finished listening this morning. Totally fuckin worth it. It may not be the best recorded live album ever, but it's a great performance start to finish and I will listen to this for as long as I can lift a needle on the record.

Looks like Toronto is an official release - and already sold out. The good news is that it sounds like other live releases are planned. cobrasiderecords.com/products/replacements-live-at-riot-fest-toronto"First in a series of authorized double live Replacements LPs to be released! This one captures the band at their reunion show (after a 22 year absence) at Toronto's Riot Fest in 2013 before nearly 10,000 fans."

They do still have the Toronto show on Garageland. It’s on red vinyl for $35( supposedly there were only 300 on red vinyl). I am hoping they put out the Riotfest show in Colorado. I was at that show and it was awesome.

Looks like Toronto is an official release... Yup, and so it is, or at least officially endorsed. Hope future releases aren't all reunion based (not that that would be terrible...just...), though I'd probably get the second LA show if it came out.

I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that they recorded the show I went to.

Every year on the Twin/Tone website Peter Jesperson lists his favorite music of the year. A must read list. His picks for 2022 posted recently. www.twintonedigital.com/2022The Toronto Riot Fest release gets a mention with these comments "Great performance, weak mastering and drab packaging"
