I had someone point out to me that on 49:00 with the separated tracks,there's a quick clip of "Thoroughbred" right at the end of Visitor's Day!

I did a bit of Googling about that song and came up with two very interesting things:

Really, really good and well worth checking out! A weird bandcamp quirk, you can either buy each track for $1 or the "Album" of two tracks for $5.

Random question I might as well post here...

Does anyone know anything about any sort of studio version or demo of "Skip It" from Sorry Ma era. Unless I glossed over it, I don't think any fragments of it are on the recent deluxe version? Seems like something that is too tight and worked on to just have been played live a few times, but what do I know. Interestingly, and I don't know if it's ever been pointed out, but this has the line "bored of education" in it, which is funny. I don't think there's any mention of this track in Trouble Boys either, from what I can remember?

Great find! It's not on the box. It's odd how much stuff has managed to not make it to each box. Twin / Tone had posted that video YEARS ago, so it's not like Rhino and their research team shouldn't have known about it. I did rip the recording and create mp3s of the two tracks though!

A VERY COOL UPDATE ON THE RARITIES SET,

The friend from the board who won the CD auction and wishes to remain anonymous did indeed hook me up with those songs!

To my ears, 33rd of July sounds the same as the bonus track version, but King Of America is definitely a different mix if not a totally different recording! The guitars and drums have a lot of CRUNCH and PUNCH vs the Wild Stab version and is a much better tune for it!

I've added King Of America and the upgraded Cheyenne to the set! Though I was sent the files as FLAC, they're on the rarities set as 320 mp3s as the FLAC files are exclusively being offered as trade with the person who owns the "3 Tracks" in-house CD that contains "She Looks Like Rain" and "Any Trouble" Hopefully that will happen! As it stands now the rarities set, titled "The Long Resterberg" has 43 tracks:

“Make the Best of Me” and "Everyone's Stupid" from the Craft show, along with the early version of "Stain Yer Blood" and Paul playing with The Neighbors at a wedding covering Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" are what I have planned for so far on the Live Covers and Rarities Set.

The idea being it will have stuff that is rarely or maybe even only played once live, (covers, alternate versions etc.) as a result may not have the greatest sound, but will still be there due to their importance and scarcity.

I’ve had 2 remarkably AWESOME things come my way in the past few days from friends who wish to remain anonymous!

The first is a FLAC version of Paul’s 1982 Solo 7 song set at First Avenue! The sound is remarkably better than on the tracks I had from that show on the Unintentionally set, so I deleted those from the drive and replaced them with these vastly superior versions!
I put a separate folder for both the FLAC and the 320 mp3s I created from the FLAC files in my drive. The Album is titled- Get Outta My Way I'm Drunk: First Ave., Minneapolis, MN, 10-17-82

The second thing I can’t reveal or share just yet, -soon- but will result in me adding a previously unknown track to The Long Resterberg and having a whole album related to share! It’ll be worth the wait! Speaking of, I was driving this weekend and listening to The Long Resterberg and made a few fixes as a result. I snipped off the Friends part at the end of Stain Yer Blood, as well as the silent beginnings and ends of some of tracks from Besterberg and fixed the missing embedded art for Be Bad For Me.

As with any of the stuff I have, PM me and I can hook you up. I'm sharing via google drive. It works well, but unfortunately you need a gmail email, so if you have or are up for creating one, I can hook you up! The plan eventually is to offer these in an easier to share way, but for now, this is how it is.

Suicaine Gratifaction (Rough Mix) album with unheard version of “Whatever Makes You Happy (Alt Version)” is the thing that was worth the wait!!! details below!

Last week someone contacted me who had gotten a “Suicaine Gratifaction (Rough Mix)” tape from before the album came out from a source close to Paul. They asked me not to share their name, but wanted the tracks out there and sent me the FLAC files. There's no "Tears Rolling Up Our Sleeves", most of the songs are only a bit different from the album versions and the sequence is also a bit different, but the main attraction is that there's an Alternate Version of “Whatever Makes You Happy” with a somewhat different arrangement and VERY different lyrics to make it a sweet and touching song about unrequited love! It’s a vastly better song than the album version!I really hope it was a label person or Don Was who changed the song, as that change is a crime against music.

With the permission of the person who sent me the Suicaine Roughs, I offered to share early with the person who has “She Looks Like Rain” and “Any Trouble” to get those for everyone and also help them track down what they’d been looking for. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them, but while I was waiting, I manually fixed some defects that came from the digital transfer of the songs from analog to digital (pops and clicks like you might hear with a vinyl transfer) being sure not to remove any part of the songs themselves and playing back to make sure it fixed the bigger defects.

I’m sharing the whole Suicaine Gratifaction (Rough Mix) album in 320 mp3. I'm holding off on sharing the FLAC on the off chance I finally hear back and can possibly get the two missing songs for everyone!

I also went back and added the “Whatever Makes You Happy (Alt Version)” to The Long Resterberg placing it after 33rd of July, because I could see a lot of folks ignoring a rough version of an album and missing out on what is essentially a completely different and better song than the one they know!

No worries at all twicks1, I didn't have that song or that show, but.. Good news! One of my anonymous friends messaged me and does have that show and will be sending me the tracks! So, they'll be up soon! ALSO on the good news front, I have a LOT of Paul and Mats live covers and rarities I got hooked up with, and am slowly working my way through for the eventual live covers and rarities set. Though not initially the plan, it will have a Mats and PW edition now!

Nobody has any other info as of yet on "Pleasure of Your Company", but knowing Paul, anything could have happened from it having had it's title changed to him getting frustrated and destroying the recording. 

I added the Paul songs from Laurie Lindeen's Fakebook show to to the PW folder on my Google drive for folks that have a gmail and requested access.

I created a compilation of mostly Radio Sessions and have called it:

It has the 96 APC Studios songs, Daydream Believer from the July 4th Chicago 96 Show, The 96 KFOG interview and songs which includes covering Bowie's "John, I'm Only Dancing", "No Place For You" and Covering Dylan's "All I really Want To Do" from KCRW in 2002 (This came from a FLAC shared with me, everything else is youtube rips, and sound great, but are only 128), 4 songs from The A-List with Anthony DeCurtis in 2002, WXRT Interview and songs with Bobby Skafish 2002 which includes Paul covering Jackson Browne’s These Days.


PM me, and I can hook you up with any and all of that stuff! I'm passing along via Google Drive for now, so if you have or are up for creating a Gmail address I can share as Google Drive doesn't work with non-gmail email but works great otherwise. Ideally, someone with a better way to share these that gets them from me can post and make it easier for everyone to enjoy! I'll be checking with a few of the better known blogs to see if they want to host some of this and get the songs to more folks, but in the meantime, Google Drive is the way.

The last thing I'm working on is a live rarities set that will be mostly covers

“Make the Best of Me” and "Everyone's Stupid" from the Craft show, along with the early version of "Stain Yer Blood" and Paul playing with The Neighbors at a wedding covering Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" are what I have planned for so far on the Live Covers and Rarities Set.

The idea being it will have stuff that is rarely or maybe even only played once live, (covers, alternate versions etc.) as a result may not have the greatest sound, but will still be there due to their importance and scarcity.
