The "Violet Days" comic in the MPLS Strib Freetime section today is on "Possibly Untrue Minnesota Rock Rumors." One panel reads: "I heard once that the late-great Bob Stinson volunteered to take out the post-party trash for the host and hostess of a big bash, then filled the trash bag with the rest of the booze." Then at the bottom are a couple ragged looking hipster heads and she's saying, "That guy izzo @*#!! nice." And the kicker line: "That is such a good idea."
Can't find it online, so you'll just hafta picture it.

Ok are you ready for this one?? It may not be as shocking for most people as it was for me, but I was at Grumpy's in NE mpls and it had Folker in the Jukebox. Thats the first time I've seen it anywhere. The only Mats album they have is the All For Nothing disc one, but they had Folker. So I put in my dollar, got some Husker Du, some Black Flag and 23 Years Ago. I've always loved their jukebox but this is just an added bonus for me.

Recently Netflixed season 1 of The O.C. and "Mr. Rabbit" was playing on the indie dork character's stereo in one scene. It was awesome.

Overheard at the P.F. Chang's at the Aladdin in Las Vegas last week: "Achin' to Be."
I thought that was a sure sign that I would be having good luck at the tables that evening. Of course, I was wrong.

For this weekend, I was at a show at the Alamo house in mpls and they have stickers and stuff from all the bands that had played there and there was one for a band called "The Tim Version." I haven't heard of these guys before but I can't help but think its a nodd to Can't Hardly Wait. Also, the house had a Mono sticker on the fridge.

For this weekend, I was at a show at the Alamo house in mpls I know house called the Alamo in MPLS but I don't think it's the same one. To make a contribution to sightings: Chris R. the MPLS Strib rock critic used the phrase "They ain't much to look at" to start off a review of a Drive By Truckers DVD (he liked it a lot).

There's more then one Alamo House? On 26th Ave off of East Hennepin?

Ever have one of those radio synch moments (for lack of a better term)? I was on an excrutiating long phone call that was driving me insane. I finally get off the phone and dive towards my radio, pissed that I had missed 40 minutes of Radio Riot on KFAI. I turned on the radio, which was set to the Current and Here Comes A Regular was playing. And it was at my favorite part of the song "first the lights then the collar goes up.."
I finished the song before changing stations and thought, even though I can listen to that song whenver I want, I will never get over how cool it is to hear it on the radio. I called back my friend and thanked her for it was that call that allowed me to hear the song. Of course she laughed at me and hung up, but I still thought it was cool.

this wasn't for toys that kill, was it? Nope, The Midnight Evils and the Akwards, also some band called The Gleam. Toys that Kill is on Sunday with the Groovie Ghoulies, The Fuck Yeahs, Rivethead, Off With Their Heads, 24 Reasons Why and one other band. Early show, 4:30. There's going to be a cookout at 3.

They're playing on Friday at Coffman at the U of M and then back here again for a show at the Tri Rock with the Divebomb Honey on 4/24. That'll be a great show.

Me too. I'll miss the one this Friday being in Chicago. I might try for the Alamo show on Sunday. Not sure about an early show there. Depending on the crew I can get to join me.
