My opinion is not poor ticket sales, but the schedule. When I saw the schedule, I thought it odd that Nashville would be where it was. Norfolk, then a 14-hour drive to Nashville (even though there is a day off) and then 6-hour drive back to Asheville. I wonder who booked this tour? I thought it was odd that he had to drive through the entire state of ohio no less than three times. One night in Louisville, then Columbus/cleveland, then back down to Cinci, then right back up to Detroit. Talk about spinning your wheels.

and, from thenceforth... we're talkin a full-on boycott of all things PW...
--we'll be building a bonfire tonite... all are invited (dare I say - encouraged) to stop by and drop your PW albums in the pile...
--zero cooperation on any more talk of tribute projects...
--and I, for one, will no longer be stopping by here to participate in any polls regarding Paul's favorite color, or the number of nose-hairs in his nose at any given moment..

Well, gee Mr Swede, you seem to be taking this cancellation quite personally. (and if you have Sorry Ma on vinyl, would you consider selling before you torch it?)

Someone forgot to tell the media ... What, When & Where Nashville City Paper, TN - 57 minutes ago (May 3) ... S. 313-4136. Paul Westerberg The former Replacements punker brings his mellowed-out acoustic act to the Cannery Ballroom at 9 pm, 1 Cannery Row 251-3020. $25. --and I, for one, will no longer be stopping by here to participate in any polls regarding Paul's favorite color, or the number of nose-hairs in his nose at any given moment.. why are poll threads more subject to ridicule than regular threads? is it: 1. They're pointless. 2. Less than 5 percent of viewers ever vote. 3. Not enough choices. 4. Too many choices. 5. Wrong answers. 6. Wrong questions. 7. Just annoying. 8. Other!

You tried this once and it didn't take. Any attempt to try again will be futile. Now get back to work on that cover of Actor in the Street and burn those Mariah Carey CDs of yours instead of the good stuff. ;D

It's not like there's a plethora of places you can go to talk about Paul. In fact, this is the only place you can go to talk about Paul. Except maybe for Mpls.

Two explanantions given by those who'd know: first, from Ten Pin Mgmt., was that there was a family emergency and someone had to fly home. Which might be true, but could be whole or in part bullshit. Because secondly, from the booker of the Cannery, I was told it was indeed poor presale. Which is what I suspected from the get go. Damn shame. Someone with balls should step up and see if it's possible to get them back to town before this tour's over. I know a lot of folks who are pissed the fuck off. Especially Billy Wayne.

If its truely a pre-sale thing, then Norfolk should have been concerned also...was definately not the biggest crowd Ive ever seen there....

Wow, lesson I learned years ago, when chosing between two shows in different cities to go to, always take the first one because the later ones might not happen or be nearly as good. I had to decide between Covington or Nashville and went with Covington. Now, instead of being angrily disappointed I have pictures of myself hanging out with Paul on his bus after the show. (I was at one of the last Smashing Pumpkins shows in 96 before the drummer od'd and got kicked out of the band the keyboardist died. A few years later a friend was talking to Billy Corgan and he said that was one of the best shows they ever did. Saw them 3 more times and was never near as good although meeting them and the Oakridge Boys backstage at the Grand Ol' Opry was one of the most unusual afternoons I've ever had.)
