More tomorrow but here are the basics: Meri and AReg and a couple of other folks got in a little bit after the first song started ("High Time") and immediately made their way up front I looked around for them right before the set started and they weren;t there and I was totally bummed and then 1/2 way thru the first song I turned around and they were a few people back from me. Yay! A-Reg worked it all day and he did a great job getting them in. Paul played about 45 minutes, first by himself and then joined by Dave Minehan, and that really kicked some serious ass. I ended up with the set list but I left it in the car, so here's what I remember in no particular order. -High Time -Mr Rabbit -Valentine -How Can You Like Him? -Born for Me -Long Black Veil -AWESOME blues song that they kicked ass on, I have to look up the name -Valentine -Alex Chilton -followed by a beautiful version of "House of the Rising Sun*" -Another Girl Another Planet Paul smashed the new First Act Paul Westerberg model guitar at the end of the set (guitar will be in stores beginning of next year). Hel came back out to the store about 45 minutes after the set ended and hung out for a while and we all chatted with him and it was just a really really fun night. And we all got gift bags! And now to bed. *ealier posted "City of New Orleans" - duh on me!

I feel a deep darkness and bitterness when I read this.
I think I need to be alone right now.

I'd pay money just to hear PW say the word "Kankakee" but these lines musta seemed poignant:
... Through the Mississippi darkness Rolling down to the sea All the towns and people seem To fade into a bad dream
He should record that f*cker.

Like UnderneathABigHorse, this news makes me insanely green with envy. You lucky, lucky people.
So, what's in the sort of gift bag that is given out at a PW show? Cigars and whiskey? Used guitar picks?

Great version of House of the Rising Sun by PW and Dave.
Great hearing Mary Lou Lord cover Wonderful Lie at the noon show
Great chat on the sidewalk in the middle of afternoon with PW.
Great seeing and meeting others that have this little obsession problem.....
Great to be out of airports and close to my bed.

holy mackeral. What an amazing day and night! I'm really disappointed with the way my pictures came out (brand new camera, I didn't have enough time to experiment with it before last night), but here's a few shots. I'll see if I can fix some of the others later, but my poor neglected lawn is calling to me now.... Thanks for everything, Kathy and A Reg! What a blast!! ~~Meri

Nope, Mike Doughty is appearing there Monday. The sign was advertising the whole week's worth of grand opening activities. Quick, book a flight! www.firstactguitarstudio.com/store_events/index.phpAfter the noontime Mary Lou Lord concert, they announced that they'd be having regular (weekly?) Friday noon shows in the store. ~~Meri

Still think that '93 band was as hot as any that Paul's played with. They really kicked into overdrive as far as the set goes when Dave got up there too. Damn. Wish I could've seen this. I bet it felt way too short though. Glad everyone got in without incident.
