I don't have a setlist . I refuse to sit and scribble down song titles when I'm trying to enjoya show . I'd say that so far Friday is my favorite . The energy wasn't quite the same . But w/ that said , it was still a fantastic show , I mean c'mon .... its Paul w/a great band , of course if was enjoyable .
Songs I would have liked to hear again but were missing: the I think I love you cover If Only You were Lonely Valentine Love Untold
Songs that were new Saturday : Knockin on Mine - very cool , very rocking IOU - ditto , great encore song Things - Paul on 12 string , fantastic Nevermind No Place for You Skyway - on 12 string , better than usual - Paul even commented that he missed this one Friday nite .
All in all , another great nite no doubt . If I had to pick , I'd take the newness and energy of Friday nite . The band actually seemed tighter Friday , a few gaffs Saturday - Paul seemed to get steamed w/ Boquist at one point on a missed bridge - can't remember the song . Paul hollered "no" into the mic and shook his head , put his guitar down for a minute or so at the end of the song . I was just glad he picked it up again , thought we were in trouble for awhile there. I would say that 3/4 of the show was the same blueprint setlist. In fact I don't think there was a change until about the 6th song although he opened w/ a blues number I didn't recognize before going into WAiting for Somebody (Fri's opener) . Paul remains one of a very few I would spend money for any show , anytime , any place . And again it was money well spent .

Opener: Elmore James classic 'Dust My Broom'. Don't let the raggedness of 'Dead Man Shake' fool you....Paul can play some tight, serious blues whether it be on slide, harp, or otherwise.
Highlight for the Wolfdog: NEVERMIND. Hearing this (in all it's kick butt goodness) makes me certain I wanna go again tonight. There's only a few more 'Pleased To Meet Me' songs left, 'Nightclub Jitters' not withstanding, would I be foolish to hold out hope for The Ledge, Red Red Wine, or Shooting Dirty Pool?
WAIT: I've been struck with 3 chords in my head...E minor, then a slashing C and D...The Ledge / Lookin Out Forever combo!!! Dare to dream!
I am just gonna go on the assumption that Fri. I wanted to hear Valentine, Sat. I wanted to hear Nevermind, and now the Wolfdog gets The Ledge/ Lookin Out Forever on Sunday.

It was a fabulous show. The first time I've seen Paul live. He and the band were very tight, rarely pausing more than seconds between songs. Near the end of the show Paul played his harp also singing into the distorted harp mic, a fabulous blues number he said he only did because his brother was there. His sister was also there a few rows in front of me.
My question: did the Replacements ever sound this good?

The leather suit from Friday night was gone last night, Paul came out looking very dapper in a vest and hat. Kevin Bowe didn't have the 'mad accountant' look from Friday, he was garbed in jeans and an untucked shirt. They opened with the blues standard "Dust My Broom", Paul showing off some fine slide guitar work. The setlist then followed Friday's until "No Place for You". There was a point where Paul said something like, "I wrote this song and then didn't write anything for two years" and did a song that I can't remember, then said, "Then I wrote something like this" and kicked into "High Time". He also did "Waitress in the Sky" and at the start of the second verse said "You take it" and stepped away from the mike and let the crowd sing it. I think this might have been the song that Boquist flubbed the bridge.
It was a looser show than Friday, I'd say that I enjoyed the Friday show more because it just felt like a white hot blast of energy; however, this show wasn't without it's highlights, "Things" wasn't perfect but it's one of my favorites it was great to hear it and "Nevermind" was great.

Ok , my turn.
this was now my second paul westerberg show ever. first being friday night. im 23. and probably the youngest one there! or one of the few...
anyways. saturday show was much better. why? because the crowd was much more into it in my opinion. people stood up the entire show..or at least about the 7th song into everyone was standing. it was a great show. i thought hte band was more comfortable, yea friday they may have been tighter, because they were probably rusty and nervous...they let lose last night..and rocked, and played like bands should play. let the songs go.... paul sounded incredible. and the songs were amazing. the set was about the same for about 6 or 7 songs....
skyway was beautiful, nevermind..favorite of the night..love that song. what a da for anight another highlight. high time, born for me..wow. IOU holy shit, that rocked. knockin on mine was amazing. no place for you was very cool to hear.
and really funny when paul fucked Crackle and drag up about 4 times before finally getting it....
great show. and i cannot wait for tonight..its going to be the best.
thank you

Paul was wearing what looked like postal issue trousers with the satin stripes down the legs, vest, bowtie, and cowboy hat. He shed the hat first, and stepped on it. Later shed the vest too.
Looking Up in Heaven sounded great as pure country.
He said "What a Day" was written for Bonnie Raitt, "she didn't like it".

Ok sounds like it was a great show. Friday's crowd was a bit stuffy. And we know the crowd sets the tone for the night.
Now how about the complete set list please!!!!!

no setlist from me. suffice it to say that iou kicked my ass from here to new hampshire, and that is all you need to know about last night's show - song wise.
i THINK the get up he had on was part of his halloween costume, but i could be wrong about that.
and to echo all the light/darksiders, the first 20 minutes or so last night had me worried that he was just going to go through the motions... but then it abruptly changed and smoked friday's show.
hope you 3-showers get to hear gun shy tonight.

Damn, I wish I were out there....I hope that Paul or somebody is recording these shows.
I thought that the Pixies were recording the shows from the soundboard, hi speed burning them, and selling the CD's right then and there after the gig. I hope Paul considers doing something like that, or at least releasing a live concert CD in the future. The bootlegs are great, but at some point, you really don't want to hear some guying coughing, or hearing somebody screaming "woo HOO!!!" right into the mp3 recorder on the bootleg....

Absolutely. Couldn't have said it better. It's about time Paul released a great sounding live album, and these Pentages gigs seem like the perfect chance to do just that...hopefully it's at least being considered by the powers that be...

It's about time Paul released a great sounding live album, and these Pentages gigs seem like the perfect chance to do just that...hopefully it's at least being considered by the powers that be... it wouldn't have to be anything complicated. all Paul or Vagrant has to do is patch a DAT recorder right to the mixing board and they can record the shows dirt cheap. as long as they've got a decent sound man at the mixing board who isn't drunk, there should be no problem in mixing the tracks for a live concert CD. His first gigs with a band in quite awhile and no one from the record label is recording it? Shame on them, they should be helping Paul to archive this stuff. I'm bitching here becuz I'm envious of all you folks who are catching the three night stand!

Ok , my turn. this was now my second paul westerberg show ever. first being friday night. im 23. and probably the youngest one there! or one of the few... Ha! I so have you beat. So where will you be this show? Everyone else on the board seems to see people in my demographic, whereas I am usually surrounded by drunk guys and their wives or kids. They should specify those sections on the Ticketmaster site. If only so I don't get beer spilt on my jacket again. Hey, were you were the cute guy in the balcony last night, sitting about row D or F near the aisle, all by his lonesome? What??? I'm just asking... Stop looking at me like that.....

Hey, Faith, I sat next to you the first night. I don't think I fit into those categories. Ok, I did have a couple of drinks. Well. Never Mind.

The board people were not included in the description. Sorry, I should have put a disclaimer. But most of the people around us did fit it, except for the sort of scary ladies to my left. That one kept touching my foot. Fucking weird. And yes, you did have a couple of drinks.
