I also remember reading once that NBC got some calls complaining about the performance and Paul's use of profanity during it. I remember reading an article about the history of musical performances on the show when SNL was celebrating its 15th or 20th anniversary. In the article, the Mats were singled out by people associated with the show as one of the worst performances ever. My guess is that it had more to do with Paul saying f*cker and them trashing their dressing room than the actual performance. They smoked most of the garbage that I've ever seen on there. uh, yeah. their version of bastards on the show was so, so kick ass. sounds like some suits from the network were polled for that article you read.
