4. The whole Bearsville Studio recording sessions in 1988..... What is that? I'm not familiar with it. Ok, so before the band recorded "Don't Tell a Soul", they recorded a WHOLE ALBUM but then scrappd it, because they didn't like the new direction they were going in. Then, they did "Don't Tell A Soul" (I ccould be completely wrong, but if my memory is correct, "Portland" and "Wake Up" which ended up on "All for Nothing/Nothing for All" are the only released songs from that session. I dont have the booklet with me, so I may be pulling that one out of my ass)

Portland and Wake Up are from this session, and I think they are also a sign that the record company has the tapes of the rest...

I bet they do.
(I really think it would have been a great album, had they released it. Both are such great songs, in my opinion)

Could we dare to have some coherent live recordings ? The bootlegs do get old The 89 Milwaukee show which featured 4 tracks released for a promo disc (Inconcerated?) would be nice to start with. There's also video from the last show in Grant Park Chicago that a local news taped. Not sure how much they shot but I remember seeing a clip from Swinging Party on the news that night.

Off the top of my head (in hopes that somebody actually involved in this project visits this site & reads this sh*t)... During the recording of Hootenanny the boys supposedly had a double album's worth of material, so Hoot II please. The entire scrapped DTAS sessions. The complete "Inconcerated" show (the record company has to have the remainder of this show, somewhere in the vaults). A re-mastered CHW "air-shaft/Chilton" version. Jesperson mentioned having video of an early outdoor gig at some college. Put it on the DVD please. A few years back, MTV did some kind of indie band countdown special. The Mats made the list, & MTV played a few seconds of some B&W footage I've never run across anywhere else (I'd guess from the hair it was sometime around 87-89). Would also love to see this on the DVD. Mars has supposedly written a biography of the Mats. Have Chris clean up the draft & included this as a bonus book. Lots of liner notes, with comments from the boys & Paul's witty scrawl. & Oh yeah, copies of ALL Jesperson's bootlegs, & anything else I've never heard. I'll buy all the above for a dollar.

Now see, thats the ultimate dream box set. I really hope they put something together that is really special. I definately want cleaned up unreleased albums tracks of the ones everyone has heard, but I hope to God they put some really interesting stuff together for us.

Yep, that's where I saw it mentioned. Who knows how much is done, but I'd sure like to see it published one of these days.

Paul's spoken in interviews about other stuff being recorded with Waits than just "Date to Church," but apparently Island Records (Tom's label at the time) wasn't keen on letting Sire release some of the other material done that day that featured Waits more prominently.

I'd like a cleaned up version of "PO Box," mine sounds like a dub of a dub of a dub...
