A few years back, MTV did some kind of indie band countdown special. The Mats made the list, & MTV played a few seconds of some B&W footage I've never run across anywhere else (I'd guess from the hair it was sometime around 87-89). Would also love to see this on the DVD.
I suspect that this was footage from a New Brunswick, NJ show just after the release of DTAS. MTV was there to film.
The concert was held at Rutgers University, but apparently the venue was oversold - the local fire company wouldn't allow the entire crowd so the band played two seperate concerts instead. Both were quite good, if memory serves.
In between, they got Kurt Loder p*ss drunk during an interview at the once-infamous Court Tavern.
ahhh, memories!
