what would you want to see/ hear. What would they open/ close with?
I would love to see them open with Bash and Pops "Never aim to Please" because it seems to be about the replacements, and it would be total 'mats to start out with a song that nobody would ever think them to play.
Of course Bastards of Young would be the closer in my dream world.

If they had an album I would be dissapointed if it was all Westerberg songs. I'd really like to hear songs by Tommy, Chris, and Slim (Tommy especially).

I think Paul & Tommy will come together for some collaborations, but a full out Mats reunion? I don`t see it happening.

...... it would be the best thing to ever happen to rock and roll ......I'd love to see them open with Left of the dial, but who knows. I think" I'll be you" would be a good closer....the whole "running in our last race" thing always got me. To me it's like they just new it was over when that song came out.
But really, for all of us Replacement nuts, as my wife refers to us all,it will never be over will it? I just found a bunch of live recordings today...this band and Paul are very inspiring to me. Tommy's new record is aw-some too. I learned played "light of day" the other nite, and was never so happy. Those guys(Paul and Tommy) sure do love Capos. 4th fret for that song. OK I'm rambling Yes Id love to see the replacements No i don't think it would ever happen.

Do I think it will ever happen. Hmmm I actually am hopefull it does and I think we might see some sort of reunion in the future. Honestly I'd like to see even a Slim/Paul combo or colaboration. What the heck is Slim doing lately anyhow??? Where is the new record???

What the heck is Slim doing lately anyhow??? Where is the new record??? From what I've heard Slim is working at a music store and does occasional gigs locally. I think he pissed Paul off a year or so ago when Paul was trying to generate some interest in a Mats reunion... Slim said something like "I'll try to help you out Paul"... and Paul mentioned it in an interview that it was a particularly annoying reply. Of course, Tommy will be the real problem. It's going to be tough for him to go back to being Paul's sideman.. same with Chris, I would imagine. CF

Does anyone buy it except for old Mats fans? Being a sideman in GnR didn't bring much pub either seeing how they are in the public eye about once every 5 years, and those appearances are usually a joke. TS could do alot worse than playing bass for PW songs, and has. (rant off) Agree re Chris....seems like his heart isn't into the audio arts anymore.

Agreed. Tommy seems to be always the one pushing the reunion question aside and mentioning how busy he is with all his 'other projects' and stuff, basically he doesn't care if it happens or not and seems to prefer it didn't, whereas Paul seems like he'd try it for the hell of it. You'd almost think it should be the other way around...

If they could mesh like they use to and I'm sure they could I would love to see them re-group. I mean , I was lucky to see these stinkers three times and each time they were nothing short of Red Hot. So ya I know they could pull it off if their hearts are into it.

Dude finally released a solo album and while he has been Axl's sideman, he's been the front man for Bash & Pop and Perfect. You can't tell me that he wasn't under Paul's shadow with the Replacements. Even now, a lot of people only associate him with the Replacements and are always asking whether or not he's talked to Paul. I can understand that he's doing his own thing or at least a different thing and why he wouldn't be quick to jump back days of old.

Yes, I know he's released solo projects, and Mats fans seemed to buy them, but no one else seemed to really notice. Agreed he's under a shadow with PW around, but being in a shadow didn't seem to be an issue when he signed up for GnR. I can see why he would want to do his own thing, but there's no law that said he still couldn't write his own songs and do solo projects... seems to work OK for some other groups. I've just always found the reasons given for not playing together to be "odd". I guess my point was that TS would be doing himself a professional favor to play together, not the other way around. My guess is that's its personal, not professional. Having said that, I won't mind if they continue to go their own ways. Seems they would both be happier with that space, and I can't recall going to many shows to watch the bass player, even ones that hop.

I think if they did a reunion tour or album it would only improve their solo efforts. (see Frank Black) I would just like to know where/when exactly the tension between Paul and Tommy started?!?! Sometime around Eventually's release?!?! Oh wait was it when he joined GnR... If that is the case, Tommy must have quite a strange sense of reality, if he thinks it doesn't warrant a snide comment really. I mean come on!

I think Tommy was offended by something Paul said during the press for Stereo/Mono. I don't have it with me, but it had to do with his commitments to Axl, and the rumor that Tommy did play on Mono.

First,TS has got to be sick of everyone who interviews him either asking about Paul or Axl. Every interview I've listened to mentions a Replacements reunion. I'm sure you have all heard them too. Remember when Paul was trying/thinking about The Mats finishing the Buddy Holly tour or something like that? That was right at the time TS joined up with Axl. His pay check was(is?) 11,000 dollars a month. I read that in some story about how much money that GNR album has cost... well anyway....I don't think TS ever had an income like that, so can you blame him? I never heard about Slim saying "I'll try and help you out Paul", but I do remember Tommy telling some interviewer in a snide manner that Chris was alot better at painting than at drumming. I gotta tell you,I can't imagine being part of such a grate band, and having it fall apart. Sure it was some self destruction but hell isn't that part of rock and roll. I don't think The Replacements were ever managed right or promoted right. Does anyone else think that the band getting back together, even for like one huge show in there home town would bring a sort of closure to our favorite saga? Plus if it did happen think of the press..I mean that would be some big rock and roll news. Personally I think Paul wants do do it but won't beg,and of course he shouldn't have to. He's Paul fuckin westerberg. Maybe Tommy thought this album would take him some where, I thought it was gonna. I just wish Chris and Slim would some how want to just jam, once they got together and jammed that would be the spark they needed. Ok thats it ..later, Mike

i really like how elvis costello has dealt with reunification with 2/3 of the attractions. he won't call the band "the attractions" still. it's "the imposters". there is bad blood between ec & bruce thomas (is that his name?); the attractions' bass player. still, even though he has pete, steve, and himself, but still won't tour or record under the name "the attractions".
if paul & the remaining 'mats did anything, they should call themselves the impediments & it should be paul, tommy, and chris only. sorry slim.
