The Replacements represented a time in our lives that cannot be recaptured . I think a full scale reunion won't make any sense . Hearing PW play the old songs is great but I think he needs TS in the band . Let Mars do his artwork and let Foley and Slim do whatever they do

I'm for leaving Slim out . Bob Stinson was Replacements and he is what PW's solo albums miss .They should get someone from Soul Asylum to fill in for Bob's parts . Keep it MPLS . When can I start sitting on line ? I think Slim did add something to the band. I have a funny feeling he kept them together a little while longer.. and he brought something to their live shows sonically.

I wish they (Paul & Tommy, and whomever else) would just quit living in this "if it happens it happens" artsy thought, and get to fuckin work. Some bands and people in those bands are just made to be together. Just fuckin' do it and quit wondering what it would be like to be The Replacements again. Cus you know they wonder, theres no way they can't. The Clash should of never broke up and The Replacements should have never broke up. I have all the respect in the world for The Ramones because they kept on. No fuckin' petty fights to bring down the magic and the fact they THEY were meant to play together.

Westerberg/Stinson/Mars are worth more together than apart . Just get on stage , play the songs, thean get in your own trailer . Just play the songs , make the cash , make the fans smile . You don't have to nbe friends . The fans don't need to see a group hug .

The Replaced Souls
Paul Guitar Tommy Bass Bland drums Pirner... uhhh... vocals, I think
This time around Hootenanny would be good since they all learned to play the other instruments

This would be similar to Grandpaboy's last Letterman appearance where Westerberg appeared three piece with Bland on drums.. As I recall the guitar playing was fine, but the vocals fell apart a little bit.. He may need a second guitarist just for moral support. CF

CF yup, i agree. those vocals were bad news.. pw kept asking me to sing louder during soundcheck, but i couldn't hear him, and he couldn't hear me.. we tried to fix it in the audio booth after the performance, but we couldn't get the vocals to balance out. we probably could manage pretty fair in a live situation with good monitors... we did on the "eventually" tour.. michaelb .

a) Tommy was defintiely on Mono. He sang back up on Lets not Belong together. He might not be in the liner notes, but its his voice. No doubt. b) Paul said in an interview that he asked Tommy to tour with him but Axl wouldn't allow it. I believe to be true though since tommy agreed to record with him at least. c) I also read somewhere that Paul ran into Chris and asked CM about playing again and CM flat out refused. d) Slim would definitely agree. Why wouldn;t he? Can take off from the record store? with that said, it aint;t happening, kids.

Westerberg has fervently maintained that Mono is a totally solo effort..(even though I suspect that all of the drumming is not him)...It's possible that Tommy showed up on a lark and provided some vocals, but I doubt if Westerberg would have invited him over soully for that purpose.. Not to throw a wrech in this thread (who would dare!), but after seeing the Stones last night in Fresno with Jason Mraz opening (talented guy, too soft to be an opener), I thought "wouldn't it be a great... no AWESOME.. idea if the Mats got together for a handful of shows opening up for Mick and Keith!" At least they can say they did it without the messy logistics and the show would go down in history as "what was and what could have been". Even if the Mats didn't reunite, I think PW would make a spectacular opener for the Stones. Maybe he'd be in too much awe and his concentration would be non-existent!

The Mats did in fact open for Keith Richards on his 1988 solo tour, so the seed has been planted. CF
