i love both, but don't know which i would choose as my favorite. As Far As I Know often wins out, since it just blew the roof off the dump live.....(Gun Shy rocked live as well, however)
thoughts? please show your work.

I'm agreeing with you on As Far As I Know. That song is so great live. As much as I wanted to see Gunshy live really really bad it just didn't hold up to As Far As I Know on stage. Which is where it matters most in my opinion.

yes, As Far As I know was so excellent live.... As Far As I Know is pretty perfect, in every way.
but there is just something so compelling about gun shy. it captures that je ne sais quoi pw factor, if you know what i mean.
probably you don't, since what i said doesn't exactly make sense. someone will be along shortly to help me out, i'm sure.

No I know exactly what you mean. I love Gun Shy and thats why I wanted to hear it so bad. Just listening to it today I couldn't help but think how great the song was as a whole and how he had done every part himself. It so damn impressive.

I love the monster drumming of MB on AFAIK and KB's not so humble opinion comment carries a lot of weight. However, given the not so subtle shout out to A-Reg and I at the Chicago & Columbus shows and the whole "peeing/ "P-ing" on Ajax thing. I've got to stand by my girl. Gun Shy for me, if I really, really had to.

Voted for AFAIK because, well, it's a better song in the conventional sense of "better" -- but if I had to go to a desert island, I'd take Gun Shy.

Hmm, this is a tough one. I like AFAIK because of its poignancy and like landshark said, it's"better" in the conventional sense. Yet, I do like the angst and realization of one's growing older in a line like "I'm chasing middle age and I'm pacing in my cage tonite...". That whole restlessness of that imagery gives me the bloody chills. I dunno; I can't choose.

I like both of em but Folkstar was really great live too.
It's funny but Folker is really growing on me now that I'm hearing a lot of the songs live (on bootlegs). Now I wonder, How can you like him, etc. Great stuff indeed!

If we're talking about live performances I'll go with As Far As I Know. When I heard it I thought it was the beginning of the rapture--I thought the whole place was going to crumble down in a dionysian swirl. Yeah, it was really incredible...
I also heard Gun Shy in the 1st NYC show and, while it was a great song, it paled in comparison with the energy, response, and sheer power of AFAIK...

I'm going to go ahead and say what y'all are afraid to say, AFAIK is prettier. True, and maybe DEEPER too, which is pretty amazing for a pure pop confection.

As Far As I Know is pure, unadulterated ear candy and gets my vote. Gunshy has a killer riff and is great too but AFAIK gets me high.

True, and maybe DEEPER too, which is pretty amazing for a pure pop confection. Come on, lyrically AFAIK isn't one of his better "yearning" songs. Besides, that is now a Michael Bland song, not a PW song. And I'll still with "chasing middle age......" though I really don't think I was "called out". Will concede that it was no contest at the shows... how about Gunshy-on record AFAIK -on stage

as far as i know is an amazing song on wax, twice as good live. its up the with here comes a regular, skyway, can't hardly wait. gunshy is one of those tracks that just gets better everytime like talent show, born for me, eyes like sparks. so the choice is obvious. they both rock.

ok, i listened to as far as i know (again), and lyrically i think it is deeper than it might appear at first listen.
i think it might be about an idealized relationship....as opposed to the actual reality of the relationship/person.
like, being in love with the fantasy, made up, in your mind version of someone, as opposed to who they really, truly are.
has someone already said this previously? if so, my apologies.
