from Sue Mclean: Paul Westerberg Pantages Theatre 8:00pm 11/5/2004 Paul Westerberg is an Indie Rock Hero & Founding Member of Minneapolis Beloved Band "The Replacements" Westerberg Celebrates his latest Vagrant Records Release "Folker." Tickets ON-SALE Friday, October 1st at noon! Tickets $36.50. To purchase please call 651-989-5151 or visit all Ticketmaster Outlets. Tickets may also be purchased at the State Theatre Box Office $36.50 eh?... don't think i can swing both, after fees (or even w/o), if i'm going to hit up the Benefit show too Is $36.50 really that much -- I'm asking cause I don't go to many shows and if I do, they are fairly 'popular' bands so like I'm seeing both Wilco and Morrissey (shut up) and I think I paid at least $30 for each and that seems fine to me. And FYI, the venue website has the tickets listed at $40: www.hennepintheatredistrict.com/upcomingonsales.aspAlso, I would just like to correct myself and say that one show is scheduled right now and that is for Friday. Now if say...there were overwhleming demand or something, well, who knows what might happen Saturday? Perhaps, maybe, could be? But officially, one only show has been announced. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Just fyi, to add to Solace's post - this is the scoop so far based on what I learned from management today. Paul will be playing one show, Friday Nov. 5 at the Pantages Theater in Mpls. A second show? Hmmm And he will have a BAND (I know that makes everyone happy!). Paul will be backed up by a band called The Painkillers...just who that might be has not yet been announced. As with everything in life, esp in music, all details are subject to change/confirmation/unexpectedness. The shows are not even up on the venue's web site yet, nor are they up on TM. You can check out the venue seating chart though: www.state-orpheum.com/pantagesseating.aspand start plotting and scheming how you're going to get a good seat The venue holds about 1,100 people. At this point in time, what I have heard is that tickets will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 1. When I get confirmation of that I will post it. more to come.

Wow, I'm used to being the tallest person at shows at 6'6". Has anyone else noticed that there is a "dance party" type thing on the Quest calendar for 10 PM on the 21st? Will this concert really be over by 10? With this line up I hope that it last a little longer than that. that would only leave 30 to 45 min. for each band. That's not enough!!! I didn't get the vibe from this show that it was going to be a very regimented thing like each act would have an equal time for sets...it seemed more like Soul Asylum plus Paul, Bob etc etc...Maybe I'm just reading into the billing.

Oh my effing god.
You and Faith need to promise me that you will both be at your computers on Friday WHEN tickets go on sale (not 45 minutes later!) and WITH all appropriate boxes checked. We cannot have a repeat of today's dismal performance...

Isn't the London date Oct. 19? Unless he's sending in the clones, doesn't that cut it kind of close? Yep, very close.

The Quest site has this show listed as 10/21 instead of 10/23 as was reported in the Star-Tribune...I figured the club has to know when the show is! Here is the info from their site:
SOUL ASYLUM ALSO APPEARING: BOB MOULD, PAUL WESTERBERG, THE GEAR DADDIES, MEMBERS OF GOLDEN SMOG ROCK FOR KARL A benefit concert for Karl Mueller Age Restriction 18+ Tickets $30 ADVANCE AND DAY OF SHOW----$50 VIP
I know 10/21 was the original date of the show so I would go with this. And it appears to be a Soul Asylum show with "special guests" so I wouldn't expect a full set or anything from PW.

i think paul and chris robinson would make a great pair. maybe aimee mann. i don't think paul wants too or expects to have the burden of headlining. he might be into opening up for someone and picking up a check. Paul has said a number of times in the past several years that he would never open for anyone again since he didn't ever want to play for a crowd that wasn't there to see him.

If Paul does make 'appearences', I think they would likely be solo. Just a guess.

I think the London date is going to be the only date in the UK. If I hear differently, I'll let you know.

That would explain the misidentification in the British guy's "St. Paul" essay, part II. Mars is traveling under the stage name "Chris Mills," since he's been on a watch list ever since "Hand Grenades." "It was all set ... " Jeremy's essay didn't mis-identify Chris, it was that article from a newspaper in Texas on "Mad About The Mats"
