As of now, the show is moving to the Marquee Theater, which holds about 1,000, see announcement below. Which is far far less than the number of tix sold for the festival. Hope it all works out OK, sounds like getting in could be a cluster fuck. But if you get in, you're seeing a small theater show. Wow.
*****UPDATE*****
The Replacements Descendents (Official) Taking Back Sunday Switchfoot Luscious Jackson The Maine are ALL on the lineup tonight at The Marquee!!!
We're doing our very best to get everything prepared for an amazing show tonight, and we're aiming for 6:30pm doors. Please be patient as we try to sort through the details.
Thank you!

Who'd have ever thought that Tempe would be second to St Paul for me? Mats is a theatre... pure perfection! Teletubby suit, Paul & his homemade semi-high water pants, "White & Lazy", return of "Little Mascara" (apparently Josh's least favorite song with "we stayed together for the kid") & "Another Girl, Another Planet"... an acoustic was out & soundchecked, but not used during the show. They did a TINY snippet of "Mr. Whirly"... I was hopeful they might actually do it but no such luck! Ok, I need some sleep now. Hopefully someone else'll check in!

Man what a nightmare, although the night ended great there were a ton of challenges along the way. We drove in to Tempe Friday night after a 600 mile trek, I had looked in advance to see what the weather was going to be and knew it was probably going to be bad news. It was much worse than I had anticipated, I've never seen that much rain in my life, and lightening and 60 mph wind, was scary. We were in our hotel though and safe, although the whole place lost power for an hour or so. We entertained ourselves by watching about four people swimming in the pool during the storm.
I kept up with what was going on through twitter etc. and learned the show had been canceled at 2:30, we were all super bummed. The promoters and organizing folks were quick on the job though and announced the new venue fairly quickly but not who would play, soon after that we learned only the first band on the bill wouldn't be there, yay!
We drove by the original venue on the way to the show and it was completely flooded and trashed, felt terrible for all involved, I'm sure some hard working vendors lost a lot of money.
Got to the new place and it was a cool venue, I'm not a big Descendants fan and wasn't all that impressed with them, but it could have been because their sound check seemed like it went on for an hour in an already time shortened show. When The Mats finally came on it had to be past 11:30, the roadies were mostly still working and Paul and company just came out and started playing to get going,(I was too excited/stupid to make a set list, sorry) well the first song Paul's mic wasn't working! They fixed it in the middle of the second song and then he had major feedback for like the next five songs! Paul seemed a little irritated.
They did finally get it fixed and the band fully rocked, seems crazy but after all of the headaches it was all worth it.
Highlights for me were Little Mascara, Another girl another planet and Nowhere is my home.
I really hope for the best for all of the locals here, the storm was pretty bad.

Yeah Tommy in a Teletubby costume was hilarious! He took off the head and threw it into the crowd and then the costume, but said he was keeping the booties cause they were the best part. Tommy was by the sound board in the back before the show and took a pic with me, I had my daughter snap it and he said she was a cute kid. Well she messed up and didn't get the pic, not so cute now.

Woo hoo for others checking in!
No pro video recording tonite. We got 88 minutes, I believe. Basically felt like a non-festival headlining gig at a theatre... an omen for the future? *fingers crossed*
Ok, really sleeping now!

Was there anyone recording videos? How long did they play for? I recorded a couple and took pics but they are pretty shitty cell phone ones. I saw quite a few people recording stuff, my kid brought her good camera but the batteries died and with all of the shit going on we didn't bring spares. Off the top of my head about an hour and 20 minutes. I doubt there will be much video or anything from this show, by the time the Mats came on there were only like a thousand people there.

Amazing show. The mats started with I Will Dare (without Paul's microphone; the crowd did the work) and then into On the Bus (Paul's mic kicked in about 1/3 a way through). About 4-5 songs in Tommy announced that they had "a special treat" for us and asked backstage for the pen & paper. About an hour in Tommy threw the pad out and asked the audience to fill in any requests. After a few minutes the pad was thrown back up on stage which lead to Little Mascara-Left of the Dial-White & Lazy. Highlights for me were If Only You Were Lonely, I Want You Back, Color Me Impressed, Can't Hardly Wait and Valentine. Four song encore was Alex Chilton-Unsatisfied-Love You in the Fall-Another Girl, Another Planet. Seems like Paul actually enjoys playing Unsatisfied; rather than the "I'm not doing that one" attitude he had for years. It was a long but memorable night (waiting through Taking Back Sunday & The Descendants was tough) but the 90 minute show was the BEST Replacements show I've ever seen (going back to the Hollywood Palladium days). The band seems to really enjoy playing together and I think being in a smaller venue with THEIR fans (most of the Taking Back Sunday young ones had left by then)lead them to let loose. After listening to TBS and the Descendants you really appreciate the diversity and talent of the Mats. Can't hardly wait for another show/tour/new album from them.

Hard to say for sure if anyone was sent home; we arrived at 8:30 and the Mats started at 11:30 but I think the crowd was pretty understanding of the situation. Seems like a lot of fans left after they saw "their favorite" band.

Thanks Goldbear for the info, what appeared to be a disaster turned into something fantastic...which is very apt with a Mats show

wow, glad it got sorted out for you folks and everybody was safe from the bad weather. Sounded like a rather intimate setting to see them, which is what I prefer to the big festival stuff anyway.
