Indirect sighting. Was a at flea market in Somerville, Mass, just north of Boston. Saw a "Red Rockers" album in a record bin. Many know that Pauls Manager Darren Hill was in this band. On the back was a super 80's portrait of the group. With all the big / spray hair, hard to tell which is Darren. Temped to buy, but no cash on hand.

This is everything you love and hate about this band...I think this is not only one of their best songs, but one of the greatest songs ever written in the history of human civilization...(Although it's a little weird to put this song and 'human civilization' in the same sentence)... Has everything to do with how tight & loud they were. This is the 'Mats' prime, not sure if there's ever bden a better band before or since than the original lineup firing on all cylinders...

and it mentions "These Days" I wonder if Paul recorded it in relation to Campbell? I just learned that Browne wrote it at 16. Amazing!

That essay Laurie wrote was touching, but all I could think while reading it was "Their kid is going to school right up the block! Maybe on a Parents day visit Paul will meet up Johnny Hickman and they'll jam together at Surfside7" (which is, oddly enough, now located on Linden St...)

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone (Dave Grohl on the cover), former Congressman and political commentator Joe Scarborough said Alex Chilton is the best song off of Pleased To Meet Me and that music in the 80's was pretty bad except for bands like the Mats. I knew he was into music but didn't realize he was a fan.

Just went and saw the remake of Stephen King's 'It' which is set in 1989 this time. About 45 minutes into the movie, the character of Beverly Marsh goes into her bedroom and on the wall is a gig poster for The Replacements, at the bottom the opener is listed as Fresh Young Fellows.
P.S. THEY ALL FLOAT

You can still buy them. www.wolfgangs.com/the-replacements/posters/poster/GFC871206.html

Listening to most recent "This American Life" and the song that ends the podcast is "We're The Replacements" from They Might Be Giants.

Stumbled on this today and what the hell? anetworth.net/paul-westerberg-net-worth/"It has been announced that the current amount of Paul Westerberg net worth is as high as 8 million dollars, which he has accumulated because of his career in music."

The Replacements were an answer last night on Jeopardy under the category "r"ock bands. Seems like the clue was something like 'This band was formed in Minneapolis and featured Tommy Stinson and they were known for chaotic shows.'
The next answer was The Ramones and mentioned that Tommy was the last to pass away of the original members. They were referred to as a 1-2-3-4 rock band.

Ha! Good question Teddinard. I think so but I was too stunned to really notice and was busy screaming out 'The Replacements!' to the set at the same time.
I'm pretty sure I remember Westerberg being an answer to a clue a few years ago too.
Trying to get on as a contestant. I vow to wear a Mats shirt if I do.
