Wasn't there a poll on some thread about favorite PW solo records, and SG held up very well! Not alot of sales, and some critical bashing, but seems many liked it too. It still breaks my heart to hear it, and my wife who is no large PW fan, even got the sniffles over Bookmark. Still his most honest work, wonderful lie and all. It did hold up well - for me, it's just a very inconsistent record. The highs are high but the lows are LOW. Thumbs up from me (in order) It's A Wonderful Lie Born For Me Lookin' Out Forever Whatever Makes You Happy The rest...not so much. k.

Thanks for not flipping.
In my defense I am married to the woman I met at age 15. Therefore I have no valid understanding of a break- up album.
Hat tipped back to you firend.

I was at PW's first Guthrie show, and I recall him making reference to SG and that it had some of his best songs even if no one heard them. Then he closed the show with Wonderful Lie.

Well heck BW, one hasn't lived until they have gone through a tremendous heartbreak over some significant other. Try it, and then SG will all make perfect sense!

Never listen to Matthew Sweet's "girlfriend" after you've been dumped. This is a public service message. or anything by the Cure! gravy#nosmileys

i like 4 or so songs from SG, but there are some really bad songs on that one, "actor in the street" is awful, and paul admits that "whatever makes you happy" was re-tooled but never really amounted to much, i agree with paul...and i am split on fugtive kind, sometimes i like the damned song, and other not so much,,,i think his state of being definetly swayed that one in a bad direction

It still fun to play.

That's awesome A_Regular. Now I know what is going to become a mix on my IPod tonight.
Randomly, my favorite breakup music: SG, Weezer's Pinkerton, and the individual songs "I'm Goin' Down" by Springsteen, "Most of the Time" by Dylan, and oddly "It's Too Late" by The Streets.

my random tidbits on Ipod buying:
1) If you can, buy the version for a mac. The PC ipod works fine (I have one) but the PC version of ITunes sucks (ITunes is the software used to load music onto your Ipod). The mac version of ITunes though is beautiful. If you do have to get a PC, I reccomend Musicmatch as the loading program. It's not as much fun, but it's unannoying and it gets the job done.
2) Make sure you get the new version where the headphone jack is surrounded by metal, not plastic. All the new, current ipods have the metal, so it probably won't be an issue for you, but the older models had this design flaw where the plastic headphone jack could snap.
Other than that, ipod's are easy, wonderful inventions. Enjoy.

You didn't ask me, but if you're looking at iPods think about how much space you really need. I got a 10gig and it's not even half full. I can't imagine anyone could ever need a 40 gig and you can save a whole lot of money.
Oh, and musicmatch sucks for pcs too. But I don't think you can do anything about that.

Sounds like jodi has a thing for F bombs! I thought all of Dilate was a good companion to Exile on g-ville.

i agree with big wheel's 4 songs of choice from sucaine and particularly tears rolling up our sleeve which i think is sadly overlooked when people are talking about this record. btw, does anyone know where paul pinched this line from?
