In his entertaining book World Within Song (streaming for free on Spotify if you have a premium account), there is a chapter on "God Damn Job". Tweedy describes seeing the Replacements live for the first time, "Looking like they're all wearing some combination of clothes from a specialty shop for tall toddlers and hand me downs from the Clash"
There has been a lot of great stuff written about the Replacements. This vaults up near the top.

I believe the Wilco song The Lonely 1 is about Westerberg.

I believe the Wilco song The Lonely 1 is about Westerberg. I don’t recall if I had heard that or read it in an interview but I know I’ve at least heard speculation that it was. I also think I’ve heard that Uncle Tupelo’s Tweedy penned “We’ve Been Had” was not necessarily about the Replacements though a response to them. Or maybe I have a false memory of that.
