I think you have it pretty much nailed. However, when watching live videos from the last tour, specifically the St. Paul show, Paul uses some pretty strange fingerings in the chorus. It also looks like he hits some version of a D chord before switching to Cmaj7 when he sings the "side by side" line. When he sings the "swingin' party down the line part," it looks like he's holding down the E string at the 2nd fret (relative to capo) and either the 1st or 2nd string at the first fret. I can't figure it out from there. I'd love for you to take a look and see what you think he's playing. All I know is, Paul must have REALLY long fingers to play the chords he does.

I think what he's doing on "swing-ing" is playing the Am7, then adding a G bass note on the low E to make it a C/G over the second syllable, like this: 3.x.2.0.1.0.
Then over "party" he seems to play a sort of D9/F#: 2.x.0.2.1.0, before changing it to a D7/F#: 2.x.0.2.1.2 on the word "down"
So basically where I have Am, he's got the C/G and D9/F#, then he keeps the F# in the bass over the D7. Thanks for pointing it out. It's prettier that way and may even be the way it is on the record. It's just hard to tell by ear when he's adding bass notes on guitar, vs. them being covered by the bass.

It is pretty this way, but like I said, it's easier if you have fingers like Paul. And it is quite hard to tell with those bass notes. Thanks for posting your take on all these songs. I don't have the best ear, so it's hard to figure out what the heck Paul is playing.

the song is played in open A as are many on tim. tune E, A, E, A, C#, E.
first chord is A. play it X,0,0,0,3,0. the chord changes to play the riff matching the vocal melody. X,0,0,0,3,0 - X,0,2,0,3,0 - X,0,4,0,3,0 - X,0,2,0,3,0 - X,0,0,0,3,0
second chord is D. play it X,5,5,0,3,0 (this is a common paul D chord in open A). you can walk the 3rd string like you did in the A chord above a whole step each time and back down.
chorus is basically an F# with the top strings open. you can play it two ways. 2,4,2,4,0,0 or 9,9,7,0,0,0 (common paul F# also used in left of the dial in open A). next chord is the D noted above X,5,5,0,3,0, then a B played X,2,2,0,3,0, then E played 0,2,0,2,3,0 (another commonly used paul chord in open A). back to the A chord.
