Press release is the only good thing about this. If it ain't vinyl, it is useless.

I'll be buying these for the umpteenth time, since I somehow managed to lose/give them away again.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the title implies a live box set in the works.

We know how they like to slowly hint at things. I saw on facebook that the vinyl box set is scheduled for a summer release. Hopefully that means all of this is leading up to a new album in the fall, perhaps sooner.

It will be released on vinyl though... Found that out after I posted. I'm happy I'll finally have the TT shit on vinyl since I refuse to pay $75+ for questionable used vinyl. I have the Tim & PTMM Rhino reissues & I'm not all that impressed with them, but I'll keep my fingers crossed these ones are better!

Vinyl is way overrated these days, as the masters are generally from digital sources. Very few artists master new vinyl pressings from analogue sources anymore.

Although true about the digital sourced masters, I disagree that it's overrated. I'll take even digital sourced vinyl over straight digital for sound quality any day. 9 times out of 10 I prefer original pressings to remasters, but records beat CDs 99 out of 100 times to my ears. I won't be waiting on the edge of my seat for the Replacements vinyl as I have all the original pressings anyhow, but I'll probably get the vinyl and it will be cool to check out and compare. I doubt I'll reach for the remasters after the first couple listens.

Yeah I have two copies of the PTMM re-issue...both skip in the same place. I don't think they even listened to the test pressing.

I thought the ASD reissue was great, but that was never released on vinyl originally (right?). Never felt the need to check out Tim or PTMM vinyl reissues.

Yeah it was released on vinyl, I had it - though it might have been an import, but that seems unlikely as I bought it from Garage D'ior Records the day after it was released. I was playing my last gig with Dutch Oven at the Cabooze (opening for Run Westy Run), and they were playing it while we were setting up for sound-check. After our set I sat next to Bob (Stinson) and gave him my drink tickets; we didn't say much even though we'd met a few times before cause the Westies were bloody loud. Strange and sad thing: the next morning, very hungover, I walked down 24th St. to Nicollet to go to Garage D'ior to get ASD. I had the day off from my cooking job at the Franklin Ave Perkins, and a few blocks away I see the inimitable figure of Bob in his checked cook pants walking towards me. We barely acknowledged each other as we passed. And here I was going to buy his old band's new album, a night after playing a hot show of my own, and here he is walking to his dumb job... Sorry to digress, but yeah - ASD was released on vinyl at the time, though as I say, could have been an import. (I think I bought the cassette the day after it's release, come to think of it).

When it was finally pressed for RSD BF I believe it was said that ASD was only pressed in Germany back in 1990? According to Discogs, it was pressed in Europe & Mexico (really?): www.discogs.com/Replacements-All-Shook-Down/master/16300. But I have no legit info since I was 6 in September of 1990.

Jess - I was thinking it was a Dutch pressing, but I guess you're right, my copy was German, now that I think back on it. Too bad an old girlfriend swiped it along with tons of my other vinyl.
