Is Outkast just a given to headline every festival this summer?

That is a great line up for what looks to be a great festival. Unfortunately, still in Kentucky...

Hmmm... this one is so tempting. I'm hoping the announce the day to day schedule soon. If the 'Mats play on Saturday, I'm more than likely there.

What's the deal with Outkast? Are they still big? I'm isolated...Seems real late 90's to me...I just have this impression of them as sort of a one (maybe, two) hit wonder...Kinda like having Falco or Creed headline...

They've been on hiatus for a while and have just reunited to play 30 festivals this year.

Hmmm...sounds similar to another band making the festival rounds this summer. I really thought that The Replacements would never play together again. I really would have never, ever guessed they would be doing all of these festivals. They are and always will be the band of my life. I just cant't bear seeing them on a jumbo tron. I am very happy for everyone who is going to see them, especially those who have never seen them before. I have basically resigned myself to the fact that there will be no club shows, and this is their final hurrah, so I hope they blow every other band off the stage and bring the rock in the way that only they can!

Forecastle lineup: great Forecastle forecast: not great Average July Weather Louisville "The month of July is characterized by essentially constant daily high temperatures, with daily highs around 87°F throughout the month, exceeding 94°F or dropping below 80°F only one day in ten" "The average probability that some form of precipitation will be observed in a given day is 43%, with little variation over the course of the month"

Dudes!! When did we become a bunch of geriatrics with the shawls and the tea and the Agatha Christie on PBS??? Jumbotrons and Hot weather??? These are the reasons keeping us from seeing our Jesus and the guy who plays bass for our Jesus?? Let's all quit overthinking it, turn off the Downton Abbey, put some extra corn starch in our shorts and just go already!! Sheesh!!

Even the fact that I live in LA and could drive to Coachella in a couple of hours, it is crazy expensive! Tickets are roughly $600 on Stub Hub, then once you're in there, God only knows the crazy price of booze, water and food. Then, there is the hotel factor...It's way too much money to justify 45 minutes on a jumbo tron! By the by, I don't even watch "Downton Abbey"!

BethD, Sorry if you thought I was calling you out. I wasn't. I was mostly making fun of my 45 year old agoraphobic azz. Your reasons for not going are completely valid. Forecastle looks like another Riot Fest; older bands, older crowd, no Jumbo, no chillin' tent. Also by the by, Downton is one of my favorite shows so don't talk no smack!

I too have tried to "rally the troops" but this crowd just loves to be Unsatisfied it seems. I pointed out all the negativity surrounding the unbelievably great Mats news from the past year and a half and I get blasted for it. It seems like 60 or 70% of the posts on this site related to the Mats' new activity are negative. I guess negativity is cool but just don't be negative about the negativity. These are their first live shows in 22 years!!! Hello!!!! Is this thing on??!!! I said TWENTY TWO YEARS!!!! as in nearly a quarter of a century! but people complain that they might accidentally have to hear 5 minutes of Blink 182, or that parking might be a bit of a hassle, or the pretzels are over priced!!! This is the one place where people should be happier than a kid at Disneyland over the stuff that's been rocking the Mats world lately but some people just want to mope. If you can't make it to one of the shows cause you can't get the time off work, you can't put the cash together, your cat is sick, whatever, I get it. I feel bad if you are dying to go and can't swing it but if you just don't want to go cause the festival doesn't sell veggie food or it might rain or, gasp!...there is a rap group on the schedule too, then please keep it to yourself. I went to 2 of the Riot Fest shows (would have done all three but didn't have my passport renewed in time for Toronto) and I am going to Coachella for the first time ever just to see them (I've stayed away from Coachella since it's inception even though I live in Southern California because it's just not my scene, but for the Mats, well f**k it! I'm going and I'm happy about it!) and I am considering either Shaky Knees or Forecastle Fest too. I don't have a lot of money but I'm figuring out a way to make it happen and I'm pretty dang excited about it too.

Hey Beth, I'm 47. Yeah, I saw them twice in round one and I loved both shows. Both times in NY where I used to live and I know these festival shows are not exactly the same thing. Chris and Slim are not there, it's not at the cozy Beacon Theater where you could actually shout something to Paul and maybe get him to shout back at you. I get it 100%. But much like my other favorite band (the Beatles), when I had the chance to see the other Paul (McCartney) reunite with Ringo and play a few weeks ago in LA, the fact that John and George weren't there, or the fact that Maroon 5 were also on the bill couldn't in a billion years keep me from going to that show. Just like the fact that Nickelback might also be on the bill or that the parking lot sucks is not going to keep me away from my favorite band. I'm not going to let the too cool for school Coachella crowd keep me from seeing Paul and Tommy. Do I want to hang out with a bunch of kids who don't "get" the Mats and have to see them on a giant stage from 20 yards away for 60 minutes or possibly even less? in an ideal world, no, but I'm not going to sit on the fence and sulk and miss something I've been waiting almost a quarter of a century to see just cause it's not a 100% perfect scenario. It's just too awesome to skip and I'm not afraid to be happy about it.

Coachella might be interesting if only to see PW inside Wayne Coyne's giant gerbil ball.

I could care less about the parking lot or Nickelback , or whoever. I understand it won't be the same. I am thrilled that they are doing this. I really am. I am just not the girl I used to be and could not deal with a situation like Coachella. My 2 favorite bands are playing, and I still won't go. I am not feeling negative. I hope everybody has a great time. I guess I want my memories of The Replacements to be what they are and not turning into being happy, yet aggravated in the middle of the desert. It is also very costly and I have a 16 year old son to worry about. I really hope they make a killing at these festivals and that everyone who sees them loves them as much as I did the dozen or so times I saw them between 1983-1991. They are the band of my life, and I love them dearly.

I cannot recommend going enough. I was not around for the band in their heyday, I am only 25 but grew up listening to The Replacements and PW solo as my dad was a huge fan who saw the group several times. They have been my favorite band for pretty much all of my life and seem to have a song or lyric for every feeling or situation i find myself in. I took a weekend off of work, bought a ticket for Riot Fest, bought another one for my friend so he would drive and traveled over 5 hours to Chicago to stand at the front barricade for 10 hours in the cold, down pouring rain sitting through bands we couldn't possibly care less about (Bob Mould not included) to see The Replacements. When Paul fucking Westerberg walked out on stage and they kicked into 'Takin a Ride' it was the most unbelievable experience I could ever imagine. They played every song I could have possibly wanted to hear (except Talent Show) and it was totally worth everything. I would have paid double, maybe even triple to see that show. I can imagine how someone who had seen them in much more intimate venues at a much earlier time would not want to go through the hassle but in my opinion it was the greatest fucking thing I have ever witnessed in my life. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it. You will NOT regret it. The band is super tight, louder than hell and the whole show is on the verge of turning into a complete wreck at all times. I never thought I would EVER see The Replacements, and I had several doubts about how it would play out for a long time, but it was greater than I could have ever imagined. If you have the opportunity to go, don't think twice.
