I think I remember someone on Dime mentioning they were working on this and when I posted the trimmed down version of the 4cd set after the reissues I also mentioned I'd like to work on this. Thing is it's kinda tricky. First I dont have every known show taped.
But what I was wondering is if anyone wanted to help out on this. What I was thinking was first we would compile a list of every known cover that was taped then any songs played more than once would be marked as such, with dates.
After that everyone that wanted to help would see what shows they have and try to sort through them to find the best sounding version then compare that to someone else's best version.
example say someone has 3 shows with the a song but someone else has 2 different shows with it, both would present the best one they have and then figure out which is the better.
not sure if we would wanna include covers that were recorded in the studio and released officially, or just stick to songs that were only played live. Also maybe we could add the few Mats songs that only exist live, like off your pants. again if they were played many times we could find the best sounding one.
