I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon But to settle down and write you a line I been meaning to phone ya, but from Minnesota Hell, it's been a very long time
I'll write you a letter tomorrow Tonight I can't hold a pen Someone's got a stamp that I can borrow I promise not to blow the address again

I have always heard:
"I promise not to use that old address again"
But I've never heard You Wear It Well when I've listened to Can't Hardly Wait

I'm pretty sure it's blow that address, at least the first time through.
And yeah, kinda loose connection there between the Rod song and CHW. But the basic thrust of the lyrics seems uncannily similar ... like "You Wear It Well" could have sort of let Paul know that intending to write a letter could be the subject or opening of a song.
And the Minnesota mention would have made Paul's ears perk up, made that verse stand out for him.
