Hey all, first post here so apologies if it's in the wrong part of the forum or something.
I am after a First Act PW580 Paul Westerberg signature guitar but can't find anywhere that has them in Australia. I have been in touch with the folks at First Act, who can't really help me, and I'm constantly looking on ebay (where no one seems willing to ship a guitar to Oz and I will probably end up paying a fortune for one even if I find someone who is willing!).
Anyway, I just thought I would ask here. Maybe someone knows an online store willing to ship out here, or even a private seller?
Thought I may as well try anyway.
Cheers,
melbmatsfan

If I still had mine I would hook you up. I am in Guam, so shipping wouldn't have been bad. I donated mine to a charity auction/prize type thing, since I still had the box and everything.

I'd like to have been in that room for the auction when the guitar was put up for bid. The sounds of everyone whispering "Who's Paul Westerberg?" must have been deafening. ;D

Cheers, melbmatsfan Well, it does seem to be getting harder to find..I guess that's good for collectors who already have it.. I googled around and spotted an online store at bbswholesale.com that still has it. Looks like they can ship worldwide. CF

It looks like I might have scored one off ebay. I paid for it and am just waiting to see if it turns up and what condition it will be in when it gets here. Fingers crossed all goes well!

So yeah, it was a bit like giving a jock a Star Trek DVD or something.

Gift advice ... The PW580 just wouldn't work for a left-handed player, as a first electric guitar. Is that right?

Learning to play the guitar is awkward enough without everything on it being upside down and backwards, plus the volume and tone knobs are right where a leftys wrist wants to be when strumming. It would make much more sense to invest in a guitar made for a lefty.

FBI = fucking bunch of idiots DEA = don't expect anything ATF = always the fuckups haven't come up with anything for the Marshals, but they're just as dorked up too.

Well I got it last week. All seems in order and it's a nice looking guitar. It's pretty sweet to play as well. Now for those guitar lessons I've been talking about for so long...

Thanks for advice. We threw caution to runaway wind and got one off eBay. Arrived nice and shiny. Couldn't find old tube amp i picked up off the curb once, so it's plugged into a kid's karaoke machine, with a bit of tinfoil to help make the connection. Sez birthday boy's younger brother: "That's so cool. I makes a buncha sound outta that thing."

Reviving my account and this thread for a random PW580-related question. I still have mine. Bought it in 2007 (!) from toysrus.com (!!) for $79.99 (!!!) plus $19.18 taxes and shipping. I actually had a guitar tech put on new Gotoh tuners last year because mine never stayed in tune too long. I still play it (poorly) and still like it. I occasionally see them for sale online for $300+. Crazy.
My random question is--does anyone know the serial number scheme for the guitars? I just noticed today that my serial number is 5806A00006. And I'm wondering whether that means mine was the sixth off the production line?
