Yep, I remember that site. I thought they had a link to the "Replacement Bible", a compilation of all these interviews and articles?

Heard a cover of Portland while shopping for some groceries this morning. Never heard it before, have no idea who performs it. Some of the lyrics were changed (I think "cigarette" to "credit card"), but the same basic structure all the same. This it? www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8zmPRN26YcOr this

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That was it. I also forgot the credit card phrase was at the end of the song, so the song was performed intact.
And I love this version, IMO, just a bit better than Paul's. But then I've been listening to a lot of off-kilter, eccentric country music.

just checking in on the hockey game with the Blues and the Wild---and I hear them play in the arena "Bastards of Young". I dunno if this is a normal thing on their playlist they do as the game is in Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center.
That was pretty cool. Now maybe they'll play "Drop Them Gloves"? should be a bloody hockey anthem, much better than the Hockey Song.

I was hoping to luck up and find something cool for 'this date in Mats history' but I stumbled on this instead. Love that one of the actual cops from the show comments beneath the post about the 'Stink' rent party (and that a picture of the flyer for the event is presented): blog.thecurrent.org/2016/01/the-replacements-stink-show-a-true-story-from-minnesota-music-history/p.s. - Do copies of this 'show' exist? I have my share of live stuff in my collection but don't recall ever seeing this circulating.

ha! the other night, was surfing thru some channels and immediately heard "Can't Hardly Wait" playing in the background of this bar scene for that movie He's Just Not Into You.
Guess the band and Paul get a small performance royalty check for it airing?

Tried uploading photo from my phone but said file too large. Anyone know how to upload a simple photo to this thread? Anyways, my teenage daughter was watching the show “Riverdale” last night and they had a musical montage as an homage to the movie “heathers” with signs on the stage that said “Westerberg High” and “Westerberg Football”. I can upload the pic if someone explains to me how.

I can upload the pic if someone explains to me how. you can try and use a free photo and image hosting site, like photobucket, flickr, or something and then you'd be able to post the link here. The photo would show up if you click on the third icon on the bottom row when you're creating a post or responding. It will have a prompt box where you can insert the link to your photo in this thread and show up.

Interesting take on reunions and when is a band not really the band anymore. Couple mentions of The Replacements, but the Foreigner stuff is really interesting. link

Funny that is started with a reference to Mott the Hoople. That 1974 lineup, with the guitarist and keyboardist who will be joining the "reunion", is the band I knew best. So I'd love to see Ian Hunter and those guys. Kinda like how I started listening to The Mats when Bob was on his way out, so I never had any real hangup about him not being in the band. "Foreigner" is playing around here soon. If I knew Mick Jones was on guitar, I'd go. But nobody I recognize or have heard of? That's a bit of a stretch.

He's ex-Dokken and also the bass player for the horrible band in the Mark Wahlberg movie Rockstar. No excuses now buddy. Seriously, though, if you're a fan they actually sound pretty good these days.
As for the article, I'm normally pretty hard on bands that ditch members and keep the name, but it does depend on the context and where I am at with my own personal arc with the band. I learned about the Who in 1982 so I loved Kenney Jones. I love the current lineup of Cheap Trick with Daxx on Drums. I prayed nightly that the Clash would not get back together with Tim Armstrong as their singer. I recently defended Queen to a Facebook thread of Adam Lambert haters. I would have been happy if that Replacements reunion was called Paul and Tommy or something....and I once sat through a 3 1/2 hour long Guns N Roses concert that was pretty good but 100% should have been billed as the Axl Rose Band. But I do get all the factors that go into it. There's just too much money to be made, and as I get older I tend to feel that if the band is having fun and sounding good and people are lining up to get in then who cares. No one is forcing anyone else to go.
