I recently re-read the book "The Black Mass of Brother Springer" by Charles Willeford. It is centered on a guy who passes himself off as a preacher. The song "Date for Church" kept popping in my head. Does that count as a random Replacements sighting?

I was not expecting this one. I almost did a spit take at the end of this video.

That caught me completely by surprise. Wow, who'd have thunk Dr. D was a Mats fan? Thanks for posting that ClamsCasino.

I have been a Dr. Demento fan since the late 70s. He was raised here in the Twin cities area. Also he is associated with Rhino so it all fits together. Thanks for sharing that video.

Was looking through some storage boxes in the attic and found this- And it contained these- I really can't remember why I received these. I haven't seen these in 20 years.

My local radio station played dyslexic and can’t hardly last night, and Here Comes a Regular just now. I had to do a news search of Paul’s name to make sure nothing drastic had happened. Just a good programmer.

I started reading Lunar Park, The Bret Easton Ellis novel, again this week. Haven’t picked it up in years. Anyway, at the party during the early part of the book, the fictional Bret is walking around drunk and high with a guitar strapped to him. He explains that the guitar is a holdover from college, back when he wanted to be, “The next Paul Westerberg.” I thought that was pretty cool. I know Bret’s a huge Mats fan in real life too. Mentions them in his fiction quite a bit.

I thought the story was gonna be that Paul said he would give him however much money he had on him, and it was, like, twelve bucks...

And I thought Paul usually had popcorn for dinner chased with sleepytime tea.
Love the story!
The guy is definitely not a money grubber. Which probably explains the t-shirt (letter by letter) exercise he put together for the reunion.

Stereo is back on Spotify I just went to listen before bed and was expecting it to shift to Mono right off the bat but was glad to unexpectedly hear Baby Learns to Crawl

Also, for a Mat's reference - per the title of this post - I just read an interview with Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters where he mentioned the Replacements as an early influence

I guess it is a belated 1 year anniversary of the last news post on Westy. He's playing the Recluse Artist role to the hilt.
