I love the replacements. I was watching Open Season with my kids the other day and realized that the music was from Paul Westerberg. I've been trying to figure out I love you in the fall but could use some help. Please anybody! I'm not sure how Paul plays it but its something like Capo 2nd Fret (tab is in relation to capo) --X--X--X--X----------------- --3--3--3--3--------3--3--0 --2--2--2--4---2---0--0--0 --0--0--0--0---2------------ -----------------0------------ ------------------------------- The Verse is something like C2 G C2 A --0-----3------0-------0 --3-----3------3-------2 --0-----0------0-------2 --2-----0------2-------2 --3-----2------3-------0 --------3------------------ thanks to anybody who replies

Here is the best i can come up with for the riff...
Tune to A. High string to Low...
E stays on E B tune to C# G tune to A D tune to E A stays on A Low E stays on E
you start out like you are playing a D chord without the F# on top. I suck at tabs but here goes...i'm lefty so this might be flipped over...but i am using the top as the High E and the bottom as the Low E.

I might be missing something here but I think it's pretty close. the only other thing I was thinking was that the second half of the riff there might be a pinky on the 5th fret high E string...like this

the rest of the song is just chords if you know how to play open tunings it's pretty straight up.

also if there are any newbie guitarists here, or people that have not yet learned open tuning's and want to. if you have an acoustic guitar and want to tune to open A my advice to you is.......... don't. you are much better off tuning a full step down to open g and puttting a capo on the second fret. i just don't want anyone having to go out and buy a brand new set of strings. anyway, i'm sure most if not all guitarists know better. just thought i'd say it in case someone diddn't

sorry don't have time to work out the bridge to an exact science...on occasion i have noticed in some of PW songs he doesn't really designate Minor Chords. sort of like playing power chords...for example in this key which could be D or A depending on where in the song you are, E is a minor as well as the F# and B, theoretically. open tunings tend to cause some minor chording problems...that's if you need the voicing of the minor chords...it's only rock and roll so who cares...

Hey guys - I realize this is an old post, but I've just stumbled upon this and after years of trying to learn this song I've been able to. Thank you so much!
I also think I've figured out how the bridge part goes and I've figure out how to play it in Open A Tuning. Here are the chords I used (I'll just give the root notes, I have no idea what the actual names are)
G - 3-2-3-0-x-x D- x-x-2-0-1-0 A - x-0-0-0-0-x B - x-2-2-0-2-0 E - 0-2-0-2-3-0 F# - 2-0-2-0-0-x G# - 4-2-0-0-x-x- C# - x-4-4-4-0-x
So the Bridge is: G D A Seasons change before me G D B E Before me there must have been someone else, oh yes
The Second Bridge is: G D A Seasons change before me G D F# G# A E After me there'll be someone new (The you do a little walk up of: F#-G#-A-E F# G# A E Shadows of the summer time F# G# A E Shadows of the summer time? (Not exactly sure what the second line is) C# When the crimson leaves appear B/E (Not sure which to use) It's only days 'til I'll appear
Then you just repeat the main verse bit to the end of the song. This is how I play it at least, and Paul does a lot of little noodly lead bits during parts of the song that I haven't figured out yet. I'm also working on a way to transpose this into standard tuning and play it that way, so when I figure it out I can share that too. But thanks a lot you guys for getting me on the right track here!
