i just got back from the new york show...my nerve endings are frayed, my ears are ringing, i am covered with goose bumps...this shows began with "dust your broom" the pedal firmly placed on the floor..stellar versions of "Borstal Breakout", a fractured "things" but vibrating with emotion..."do you think she wants me to come home?"..."i will dare" which switched inot double speed at the break...outta fvckin control!@#$%^&....IOU, NEVERMIND, VALENTINE, ALEX CHILTON to end the show...came out for a second encore afer the roadies began to take the mics down, turn off the amps, the music came out over the speakers, but the crowd would not let the night end...."can't hardly wait" which featured the switch of micheal to bass, jim to guitar and vocals, paul to drums at the break,...the sound was great, and pauls voice was something to hear....that primal scream was in full force....other than a slight dip in the middle of the show the thing was an exhausting display...at one point 45 minutes inot the show, paul leaned on kevin, out of breath...you could tell the man was giving it all he had in the tank....i thought the detroit show had it's doors blown off, but this show blew the doors off all the way to detroit and landed in st andrews hall...more later, i got go get some air...and try to get some hold on this amazing show....and i hope somone recorded this thing....

I agree 100%. This was as tight and focused a Paul Westerberg show as I've ever seen. There was a precision to Paul's singing and (especially) guitar playing that is rarely seen live. Incredible extended solos on Knockin' On Mine, the hardcore ending to I Will Dare, the remarkable encore of Nevermind into IOU into Left of the Dial which had my friend John commenting that Paul seemed to be investing more of himself in these songs tonight than he did back when the Mats were touring behind them. The only (slight) letdown was a few too many mid-tempo tunes bunched together in the middle (Looking up in Heaven, What a Day for A Night, How Can You Like Him). But he was on fire for the vast majority of the evening. And no blues jams god bless 'em. Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better show.
