guitar given away?
Why do I automatically despise the recipient? Hope they at least got it signed afterwards.

I'm waiting, but "patiently" wouldn't describe it.
Someone, please wake up and give us the details!

That is all.

ok...got 5 minutes till a meeting but i'll try and give a brief rundown.
Very different than Columbus show. Much more loose, more covers...starting and stopping. They had some silly large baby doll up on stage that got lit on fire, kicked, loved and given drinks. Paul did indeed leave at the end of a song to go get a drink. I threw my flask up to him and he had a little. (Kevin was kind enough to give it back to me after the show, empty of course, and then got Paul to sign the flask.
Setlist? No chance here. Stain Yer Blood, Little Mascara, AAA, Final Hurrah, a ton of covers, Left of the Dial, Alex Chilton. Why can no one in Ohio get a setlist? Are we all hopeless drunks?
The guitar was smashed and Paul threw it into the audience and they guy was allowed to keep it. He got it signed afterwards
More later perhaps. Trying to be coherent for this meeting.

This was show number 3 for me . This show top it so far . Opened up with love untold , AAA, Final Hurrah , slow version of I will dare . This was clearly blues night at the house of blues .
Paul left the stage while the band was playing Little Mascara and went to the bar to get a drink . Classic ! He commented that they sounded good !!
Yes , finally a broken guitar given to my friend Doug .
Also , got my request of 20 th century boy .
Hightlight - Borstal Break out !
Well worth the 6 hour roundtrip drive with no sleep and back at work by 0600am .

I threw my flask up to him That was you, eh? For a split second I thought it was a bomb... Also played Things, Valentine!!, 23 years, Merry Go Round, Once Round the Weekend, What a Day..., Kiss Me on Jerry Bus. For me it was a perfect mix of solid playing and fun looseness. Constant tweaked lyrics that I assume deal with his private issues. For a Tuesday night at the mistake by the lake, the crowd (stage front, at least) was pretty in to it. Some moron kept screaming ‘Photograph’. Ironically, next week the same venue has Ryan Adams. And, Europe.

That was me...didn't mean to alarm anyone.
Once Around the Weekend was awesome. The slow version of I Will Dare was great. I have been bored of that song but that version was great.
Valentine was so good.

Other notes ...
-Early in the night, someone called for “Buck Hill,” which got played for about 30 seconds the night before. Paul responded with, “Didn’t you come last night? We played that f#@ker then.”
-Also early, Paul introed “Kiss Me On the Bus” in broken French and the band broke into different songs. He then stopped everyone and said, “You must not have understood, I said ‘Kiss Me on the f#@king Bus’ “ and the band started anew.
-“Born for Me” was played with Paul seated right in front of Michael’s drum set.
-Paul said he felt comfortable since “I’ve been coming to this place for like five times a year. Thanks a lot Detroit.”
-After Kevin tried with his solo to speed up Paul’s slow version of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” Michael appeared to get into the act by chirping about the selection from behind the drum set. Seemingly frustrated, Paul gave up the song and said “F#@k you guys,” to which Kevin responded, “If you think this is bad, you should see him getting on the bus early in the morning. That’s fun.”
-Paul changed one of the latter lyrics of “Waitress in the Sky” to “you ain’t nothing but a Son Volt reject,” looking squarely at Jim.
Set list to follow ...

This is Doug from Buffalo, yes the proud owner of the busted up Gibson that Paul was gracious enough to hand off stage. It looks like a cheapy just for busting up, but that's OK..... After a short struggle, my brother in law (much bigger than I) took control and handed it over to me. Paul signed it on the bus after....oh, and the security guys at HOB are complete dicks, tried to make us all leave the parking lot, told us he wasn't coming out, blah, blah, we waited patiently at the edge of the parking lot and Paul came out of the bus and waved us all over. Great freakin show.

It is actually a new Gibson Melody Maker. Haven't played one, but it is pretty much the same thing as a Les Paul, Jr. From what I can tell, the same pickup and configuration. It has a satin finish, so it is a little less expensive. I think Musician's Friend has them for around $499 or so.

I agree with all the reviews. The show was pretty loose, but I think a little low-key (it's no wonder after Chicago). Paul seemed uncharacteristically coherent (!!!) and the band sounded pretty tight. The highlight for me, however, was afterward at the bus. I got to talk to him for quite a while, and then I said thanks, put my hands on his cheeks and kissed him (!!!). Better than an authograph. 14 years ago I saw the Mats at Nautica...it was my 25th birthday and my then girlfriend actually got a note through to Paul to say something. He ended up saying "Happy 25th Birthday to Eric, our number one fan" right in the middle of a song (awesome). I always thought my girlfriend slept with Tommy to get that note through, and so now I can say my girlfriend slept with Tommy and I'm the guy who kissed Paul.

I gotta know something...As you all know, during a song he went and got a drink at the bar...I thought he was off the sauce and clean and sober.?..What happened, pressures of the road maybe?...He looked pretty lit up there, but that show was by far one of the best rock and roll shows i have seen in along time! I loved it..That was the first time i got to see any 'mats song live with a full band....I saw him at the Odeon in Cleveland a few years back on his solo tour and talked to him after at the bus were he graciously signed autograph for a huge line of people...what a cool guy, that Paul...he's a good kid! I got this from www.imdb.com on him: "Gave up drugs and alcohol following the disbanding of The Replacements in 1992, and was successfully treated for depression in 1998." hmmmm.....
