There's some stuff already mentioned on other threads I should probably import over here, but in the meantime, just in time for Halloween:
Dialogue: BILLY CORGAN with Jim Walsh The Loft, Open Book 1011 Washington Ave. S., Minneapolis Friday, October 22, 12 pm Free and Open to the public (limited seating) BILLY CORGAN AT THE LOFT LITERARY CENTER The Loft Literary Center announces that Billy Corgan, of the critically acclaimed The Smashing Pumpkins, is to be featured in a public program at the Loft Literary Center, Friday, October 22, 12 p.m. At his only appearance in the Twin Cities, Corgan will discuss his new book of poetry, Blinking With Fists, with City Pages’ Jim Walsh. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Books will be available for sale and for signing following the dialogue. Nearly five years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins entered what would be their final year as a band, Billy Corgan started writing poetry. Corgan found himself inspired by the limitless possibilities this medium provided for his creativity. “What is wonderful about poetry is that its scope is multi-dimensional. It can have any rhythm, length . . . calamity without any constriction to form,” says Corgan. Now, with Blinking with Fists, Corgan emerges, ready to share his poetic voice with the world with a collection of his poetry that will be released on October 1, 2004 (Faber and Faber/$18.00) . Corgan has already shared his poetry with a sold-out audience in his native Chicago, where he performed at the Poetry Center of Chicago’s 31st annual reading series and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Chris Mars isn't the only veteran of Replacements recordings to display his artistry during a PW MPLS performance timeframe:
The North Mississippi All Stars perform with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band at the Cabooze Bar in Minneapolis on Oct. 23 (the originally scheduled night of the Oct. 21 Rock for Karl show).

Few are sleepless in Minneapolis
Residents in Minneapolis should be sleeping a little easier tonight. And every night, actually.
Much to counted sheep's despair, Minneapolis was named the "Best City for Sleep" in a study released today. It was done by Bert Sperling, who is known for his "Best Places" studies.

As much as i love my sleep, i dont intend to do much of it in my 4 nights in Minneapolis! Though checking the weather reports, is it really that bluddy cold? And i thought Newcastle got a little chilly! Pity it's not the snow season, i'd kinda pictured Fargo, stepping off the plane and getting lost in the snow!
