Can anyone help me out on this one. I have only been playing guitar for a few years and this is one I can't figure out. It is either deceptive simple or has an alternate tuning...any advice would be greatly appreciated. Rumor has it, it's in B, but I can't seem to make it work. He played this great in Milwaukee and Chicago. I love how he played it on CFMT DVD..too bad it's cut off. Thanks Kevin

I do believe Paul plays this in open G, but I have never found the chord shapes to make it sound right.
what does gtr plyr think?
its like the fingerings I see Paul use to play Alex Chilton live...I'm completely lost.

It's definitely in open G. I learned a bit of it a while ago. If I recall any of it, I'll try and post it.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in since I'm a good for nothing lurker. I'm no expert. I can't even really play guitar well at all. But this seems to work for me. Standard tuning. May or may not be correct.
C G F G When the lonliest eyes, and the emptiest arms
C G F G Finally decide to meet
C G F G With a head in a lap, and a tongue tied in knots
C G F G Then the lonliest eyes try and speak
F G F G F You were born for me, beautiful and blue
G F G I could die here with you
C G F G For a couple of nights you could say you're my wife
C G F G You could stay or run away if you please
C G F G The heaviest head and the emptiest hands
C G F G You'll be safe in the light, when we kiss, when we breathe
F G F G F You were born for me , beautiful and blue
G F G I could die here with you
F G F G F You were born for me, beautiful and blue
G F C Stay here with you
F C I can't bear it, I can't share it
F C With anybody in my little world
F G I can't hide it, I'll never find it
C F With another girl
C G F G (humming part)
C G F G (blah blee blah) when we kiss, when we breathe
F G F You were born for me
G F Beautiful and blue
G F C
I could die here with you
F C I can't bear to, try and share you
F C Well, I'm the one to talk, you're the one that's free
F C when you forget me, then you'll let me
F G Fade away... You'll always be
born for me etc. etc.
If it's wrong, Accept my apologies.
Rob
edit: funny, when it's in edit mode, the chord names are over the part of the verse they pertain to, yet when it's posted, all the spacing is gone. Doesn't matter I suppose, we all know how the song goes.

Hey IR, If you want a Tabbed out version of the song, just check halfway down the first page of this section.
