Which set would you want to take with on a one way trip to a Martian colony or a life term in a padded cell or an incredibly remote Buddhist monastery?
The quantity is out of balance, but I guess we're talking quality here. All For Nothing/Nothing For All can't count as "post-" since it's got so much material from Tim and PTMM. I forgot what all is on Boink, maybe that's out too due to LIB stuff?

I can do without "Stink" but I would take Pre all they way. I still love Sorry Ma.

Tore:
Been meaning to tell you how much I like your name. Always loved that song. Paul did it at the show I was at last year. (2 years agO?) He farely screamed out the "FIRST"'s during the choruses.

Though I loved Don't Tell a Soul, All Shook Down just never totally got me. Gotta vote with pre...

I wouldn't want to give up any of Sorry Ma or the songs If Only You Were Lonely or Color Me Impressed, but I gotta say I probably relisten to DTAS and ASD more often these days.

I listen to DTAS and ASD far more than the pre. I guess I just like more melody and angst rather than rock and rage.

why can't i choo-choo-choose the holy trinity? That card sure was funny. It said "Choo-Choo-Choose" and there's a picture of a train! So, do you like...stuff?

I thought I was going to be different and vote "Post" but since it's now leading I don't feel so special. I didn't hear them until 87 or 88 and had to go backwards from there, though Tim is still my favorite.

I just wanted to add that I like your titling of the Holy Trinity. That little string of albums stands up to Beggar's Banquet, Let it Bleed and Exile to my humble opinion. And I would go with post, as I think the songs stand up better.

Hootenanny is criminally underrated. The original vinyl Boink! was also a great compilation, especially since it contained many of the best Hoot tunes + Nowhere Is My Home & the Let It Be B-sides. I'd have to go pre based on this alone, and that's not even considering how huge of an impact Sorry Ma had on me.
The production of DTAS is unlistenable for me to this day.

I cannot abide All Shook Down. Mr. Westerberg, if you ever read this, I'm sorry.
DTAS was pushing it, but ASD was the nail in the Mats coffin for me.
I can still - almost 20 years after picking up Let it Be - listen to that record about three times a day.

I, too, initially resisted ASD. But after the millionth spin, I learned to appreciate it for the classic that it is. "Nobody," in my humble opinion, is as good as anything PW has ever written. And when PW opened a show with "Merry-Go-Round" he nearly ripped the roof right off the venue. DTAS is the harder listen, but not without its rewards. I voted "post" on the strength of ASD alone. But, heck, I'll take the "trinity" over any three albums by just about any other band. Tim remains my favorite, and not by a slim margin.

Ok, everyone dislikes DTAS, but I still like it! Achin to Be, Anywhere's better than Here (You press your luck, up against his body is one clever opening), Rock and Roll Ghost...there are plenty of good songs on it. I even like Inherit the Earth as a sort of poor man's Bastards. I just think it suffers in comparison to what came before it, but was still as good as anything I was listening to back then. I'd love to hear these reworked in a live setting..2004?

Hey analogkid, I admire your perseverance. "Nobody" is very good, but I seriously cannot think of another song I like off that record. Like. Not love. Like.
And as for DTAS, no offense to RocknrollGhost, who is a fine upstanding board member, but that song makes me want to blow chunks.
Meanwhile, I can still name every song on Let it Be - in order.
